Missing the PPF & JFPL tours...

And seeing James Dean Bradfield in Cardiff bay and being too scared to ask for a photo!

You know, lots of you are probably going to say "WHYYY" but I wish I'd joined FD long before last fall. I became a fan in late 2003-early 2004 and I imagine it would have been fun to know a lot of you back then.

Kind of agree with Exopotamie, I wish I'd got more involved on here rather than timidly lurking for pretty much a year.

Biggest regret is that I had no idea who this band was until my now-husband JDManic introduced me to them when we started dating in 2003. There is no reason I shouldn't have been blasting Generation Terrorists alongside Nevermind in my college dorm in the 90's. Yeah, I live in the US, but with all the "alternative" bands I was listening to back then, I can't believe I didn't trip over anything from them the way that JD had.

Every single do-able gig that I decided not to go to because I'd already spent a lot of money on tickets, travel and accommodation. Fact is, there's nothing I really enjoy more than a Manics gig.

Not being able to go into a gig because I had a melt down. It was awful, and I missed out on hearing My Little Empire

Not asking about the size of the shirts. They only had one set of shirts on display, so I assumed they were all male or unisex shirts and asked for a small. They handed me a womens' small shirt. The length goes to about halfway between my belly button and my hipbones. I wore it with a longer black top under it a few times, but even that looks stupid. It's basically unwearable.

On that note: Getting a spray-painted shirt I really liked thrown out. I invested in it, and it really turned out lovely.

Only been to 4 gigs spanning 14 years (first one 1996, last one 2005) but basically none of my mates/work mates etc. have ever liked the band so i either used to go alone or drag someone who didnt even like them to come with me just to see them.

Not taking enough photos of the 1990s gigs, or the 2005 one come to think of it.

Not having any friends that like Manic Street Preachers.

Fell ill the night of a Manics gig in Bournemouth a few years back. Was meant to be working in the bar that night, and was being allowed to watch the gig for free with an extended break, but i was just so ill i couldnt get out of bed.

I regret never seeing them in concert with Richey in the lineup. I was a fan back then but for some reason didn't hear about the concert in Toronto in time.

Are you really not a fan of the band any more Finn? In that I mean have you completely gone off their music as well?

I was thinking about this earlier oddly, mine are:-

Being too young/not knowing about the band earlier - I'd have loved to have been to some of the gigs when Richey was in the band - especially the Astoria gigs

Not ever doing the dressing up/queueing stuff with other fans - I only started going to gigs a couple of tours ago even though I've liked the band since I was 18. I'd have loved to do the queueing at the height of it, from stories I've heard it's where you meet/make friends with other fans and there's a real community feeling. Same with dressing up - I'd feel too self conscious now.

I guess following on from that I wish I'd been part of the fan community earlier, and been less shy and able to talk to people.

Not going to the Millenium gig. I can't even remember why I didn't go, I was into the band at the time, I think it was probably coz none of my friends were into them and didn't want to go and I didn't want to go to Cardiff on my own.

That's about it I think
