I don't know about the band but I expect, and hope, to see Nicky branch out more as a writer. He's always going on about written diaries and episodes of various dramas, if he has the writing bug why doesn't he just give in and write a book? I suspect over 20 years of writing lyrics may have limited his abilities and expression of intellect, and he would develop new ideas about how to write them until he keeps following the same artistic pursuit.

Wondering When Will The Album Leak?
And Will They Split Up? Why Not Ask FD?#

I'm hoping they get John Cale to produce the next one. I'd hate to see them blindly react and reject against PFAYM as it's actually pretty fucking good and a lot of the ideas work. (Choirs etc)
I'd also rather wait for 2012 for another best of as then they can do a "1992-2012" album. Even though I thought that will be more crippling for them than following PFAYM?
Where do you go after you have all your singles put together on 2CD's?

I think the syle of the next album could be.

Red Sleeping Beauty
Found That Soul
Imperial Bodybags
I Know The Numbers
Autumnsong
Tsunami
This Joke Sport Severed
Boxes & Lists

These songs pop into my head when I think of the musical approach they will take next record.

Low-fi blues album?

Hopefully they'll stop trying to *be* a version of the manics and just write and play whatever comes to them. The album doesn't have to be a coherant whole - their gigs show that YLAINE sits perfectly alongside Faster and Born to End so I don't see why the same couldn't be true of an album. I think they should avoid trying to force songs to fit into a certain version of themselves.

And no more gospel choirs. Ever.

They're by far the best thing about PFAYM.

They make some songs almost unlistenable.

In my opinion they make GP which would otherwise just be a simple pop/rock song the highlight of the record.

The gospel choirs are amazing and one of the best parts of the new album. The band should've used them more!

i think it's a little late in the day for them to split, isn't it? they've been through key band member vanishing, critical slamming, poor sales and probably a dozen other things and yet they keep going. the three of them clearly get along and enjoy doing what they do. even if Sony dumped them, plenty of labels would sign them up safe in the knowledge that there's a fanbase who will buy pretty much everything they release.

i can see a couple of years "off", mind. not going to be surprised if 2011 sees just a couple of sporadic festival appearances, maybe record in 2012. who knows with them, though, they might be itching to record some new stuff right now. even if it's a covers album to get back at Phil Collins.

The beauty of a great band - I think that song is their very worst, you obviously don't but we both still love them.
