Poor Nicky I felt genuinely gutted for him when I read that. My dad had a similar thing and had to have an operation for it.

Why is this sad? I feel bad for the guy that he has a semi-debilitating condition which can be quite painful, but I certainly don't find it "sad". There are lots of things going on in this world that people should feel sad about, Nicky's inability to jump during gigs really shouldn't be one of them.

And yet, for some people it is. Personal importance and relevance is everything, and for someone to who this band is something of major importance/who idolises Nicky/etc this sort of thing could be quite sad indeed.

Pretty sure it'll affect more than just his jumping.

A lot of people here remember Nicky from his younger days when he went crazy on stage (and those of us who don't remember have certainly seen the footage) -- it's just another reminder of the passage of time.

That said, I'm just glad Nicky is taking care of himself!

I thought it was pretty obvious, tbh.
Plus, he's a 43 year-old man with two young kids, so yeah, I find it sad, even if i don't know him.

A great shame as it is, I hope he obeys doctors orders. Don't want him to end up causing himself serious damage. Hope James won't try and take on bouncing around like a madman for the both of them!

James will have to try to compensate for the static Wire by doing back flips.

James and Sean can have a dance off to make up for it.

He might not be able to jump, but he can still come out in a skirt and stick his foot on the monitor, creating awkward "do I look or don't I" moments for everyone on that side of the stage...

Eh, Nicky, Nicky.

I've got 11 years on him but I had a really screwed up knee about 5 years ago and now it's pretty good, thanks to taking a lot of condroitin sulfate (+MSN) and cycling a lot. It took about 4 years but now it's almost as new.

Someone please pass this on to the Wire (and his doctor)

Well, that's a very profound reason to hate a great movie!
