I'm back to running on my knee I crunched 4 years ago, miracles can happen.

Perhaps Nicky could see his occasional recreational 2 paracetamol as a gateway drug to 2 ibuprofen, that does wonders for inflammations/joints. I'd also echo the calls for him to spliff up, it might help the writing process.

I feel less sorry for Nicky having the very same knee condition since I was 20 and having to pogo along regardless on the barrier at many a Manics gig. (I feel sorry for him really, it hurts like a bitch but I also feel the need to go 'well ya know kinda like blah'.

Is cycling good for arthritic knees? My mum's got them really badly and I've basically got the exact same body, but I do 20 minutes on the exercise bike each day so maybe I'll get away with it if so!

I haven't inherited her fandom of The King's Speech, though, in that respect I take after Nicky. (-;

Now you had to go to a doctor when I'm supposed to see you live for the first time?
Take care Mr Wire xx

Well I haven't had my tea yet so my English is erm... so I think I'll just copy wikipedia

In general, studies have shown that physical exercise of the affected joint can have noticeable improvement in terms of long-term pain relief. Individuals with arthritis can benefit from both physical and occupational therapy. In arthritis the joints become stiff and the range of movement can be limited. Physical therapy has been shown to significantly improve function, decrease pain, and delay need for surgical intervention in advanced cases. Exercise prescribed by a physical therapist has been shown to be more effective than medications in treating osteoarthritis of the knee. Exercise often focuses on improving muscle strength, endurance and flexibility. In some cases, exercises may be designed to train balance. Occupational therapy can provide assistance with activities as well as equipment.

Basically moving your knees without placing your body weight on them (= cycling and swimming vs. running, which is bad for kness, they say) does good to the joint as the fluid inside can replicate faster. That stuff transports the vital elements for the joint.

I hope you can make any sense of this

Also, if the man would lose some weight, that would help as well

I'm sure his doctors know what's best for him and his condition, so I'll keep my trap shut since I'm not a doctor and reading things on the internet doesn't turn me into one, but

I can assure you that the man I saw 3 months ago doesn't need to lose weight. If he did, he would probably get drifted away by the first gust of wind.

Poor Wire, so sad to see the jumping go but I bet he'll still get carried away now and again. Might send him a card
