Yep, already did. They fucked up. THey're sending out an LP now but I ordered a signed one....so doubt I get that? Or were the signed LPs just the signed print like in the book? I thought I saw the actual cover signed...

My bonus LP is signed. Don’t know if it is just the plastic cover that was signed.

I don't think they have a database of which ones are cocked up either and are waiting for people to shout, at least in part.

Nice to have these videos uploaded in better quality, but I don't think they are truly HD, to my eyes anyway. Clearly the footage has been cleaned up and had a new colour grade, but it looks upscaled from standard definition to me. A shame that they either don't have the original film rushes to rescan in HD, or there isn't the money available to go through that process and re-edit the videos from scratch.
I'd also have preferred them stick with the original 1993 audio, rather than using the 2020 remaster audio. From Despair to Where sounds really mashed up in its brick-walled version. Love the song, and it's disappointing that it's not presented at optimum quality in the new video upload. They also tried to recreate the slightly different end of the single version by fading out the album version, instead of just remastering the single version. Same with Roses in the Hospital. Obviously, the album version is superior, but for the sake of nostalgia, I'd have preferred they stick with the single version on the video. Anyway, it's always interesting to see them dive into the archives. Love the demos and the live stuff we got in Pieces of Sleep. GATS is very underrated, by the fans and the band, so it's nice to see it get some love. |

Those old videos would've been shot on video tape - there'd no HD to glean from that! They're just adding detail with software that was never truly there.

The promo videos were shot on film, so if the original film footage still exists, it can be rescanned in HD quality.
There are two scenarios here: a) they didn't have the budget to go back and rescan the film footage, and re-edit all the correct shots together, or b) the original film footage no longer exists. In which case, they would have to use the best quality version available which is probably the final edited version copied to a 1990s digital video format, and therefore standard definition only, meaning it has to be upscaled (basically inventing new lines of information in the picture, based on the existing lines) to get it up to the technical specs of HD. It's all just semantics (and a marketing ploy), but it irks me that the new uploads are presented as "HD", when the source footage probably isn't. Last edited by SBazB; 01-07-2020 at 20:53. |

I agree that these are probably just upscaled, but its a damn bit cleaner than the 480p versions they have up for everything else. I do hope theres enough budget/interest to work on the bands more interesting videos e.g. Faster, Tolerate, You Love Us.

Yes, would love to see them upload cleaned up versions of all the 90s videos. The version of Faster that's been on YouTube for ages looks like a bad VHS copy. Maybe it's always been like that, and it's a stylistic thing, but I'm sure it was cleaner and more stable on the Forever Delayed DVD and on TV originally.

Ah yes, the roses in the hospital video - the one where sean has a fight with a woman. It's a weird old video yet still boring and barring a few exceptions i've always thought the music vids were the least interesting aspect of the band.

Took almost a month after it was shipped, but I finally got the GATS book thingy.
Book is nice, love the bonus songs - unfortunately, it's mastered like shit. Way too squashed, and it's exhausting to the ear - you can't crank it, because it's all brittle and distorts even at a low volume. So unfortunate. Also, like most, they forgot to send the signed LP - what a cockup! I sent them a message saying so. Have you guys had luck them them - will they believe me and send me the LP they neglected to? |

Well if it's anything like me, I don't think it's a matter of believing. The packing slip on my order ONLY listed the book so they have a record that they never sent what I actually ordered. I am not holding my breath that my LP will be signed when it arrives.
