I do think there would have been a point last night when he realised his insistence on sticking with his preconceptions and grumpy old man persona was a major error of judgement.

This write-up about the meaning behind the ceremony must make him feel majorly embarrassed over his tweets. Danny Boyle brought everything the Manics ever strived to be about to the table.

Totally agree. Wire sounded completely out of touch - especially given that the other vocal twitter naysayers were Toby Young and Aidan Burley...

I'd say the biggest issue would probably be the amount of money spent on it.

It's just boring sports faffle, focus on the essential music stuff Wire!
This is the real Nicky, sadly. The real Nicky in all his 'glory'. *Averts eyes*.

Good write up. Nicky won't see past the fact that the Queen and other royals attended

Erm, well from what I can gather it was a quick run down of British history. Not sure what ploughing fields and the industrial revolution has to do with what the Manics have ever had to say. Fair enough if coal mining got a mention though!

Nicky's probably just getting his own back on you lot incessantly moaning about setlists anyway.

'NOW you know how it feels! BWAH HA HA!!! Just wait for the closing ceremony.......!!!'

It's just an opening ceremony for goodness sake. Calm down!

Well like I say, if you'd watched it...it was a lot more than just that. It had a huge thing on the NHS, on British history and literature. The Daily Mail had a huge go because it was supposedly far too left wing for them. Not to mention celebrating peace, with the olympic cauldron, the people carrying the olympic flag..the young athletes.
