The reason I think this is because he could only be describing the title as 'a bit Pogues-y', unless that was one of his poorer descriptions of what a song sounds like. PS. This would mean it's JDB's best ever lyric! |

What ya trying to say about James' lyrics?

I like the Descent a lot but it's not single material at all. The song on the album that is the best single material for me is SKON and always has been. It needs promoting well though, radio play is great, INW had amazing radio play but it needs great video play too and INW's video was bollocks and boring, hence why it got literally two plays on TV. I don't get the whole Golden Platitudes as a single, it's only in the last day I've grown to think the song is anything is above a 5/10 rating and a single? Might as well move on to the next album if they release that as a single in my opinion.

Just lookin' at the top 40 singles chart and the f*cking WOMBATS have gone in higher than INWJTEOL. What fresh madness is this????? Haven't we suffered enough???
That's it dammit. I'm writing to my MP...or failing that the lead singer of Echo & The Bunnymen. [Writes "...Dear Mr Echo"]. |

Well Mac will try and help them if they release SKON as a single. Not much more he can do really!

Descent is a little bit old-school-esque mixed but it has the strongest chorus of all new songs. Only Postcards and Balconies choruses are good enough to compare.
For Czech Republic, The Descent would be the best choice. With B&W videoclip. But...it's pointless to release a single here

Funny, for me it's the exact opposite. It even kills the song for me.

that's because the verse is (also) too good

Strangely enough, I think it's one of the worst choruses they have. I compare it with Pedestal and Happy Ending, and then you know what I mean

It seems like I'm the only one who likes it. But I bet James likes it too. It's a typical pop chorus (everlasting, ME, She's Suffering...)of his.
I quite like Pedestal chorus. Oh, I like it very much. you make me feel/make me feel/so celestial. wow, that's great
