Well, after all the bodily fluids in the KYE cover art, it's a natural progression.

Because it's selfish and mean-spirited? But I guess it's down to whether you think it's ok to do other fans who genuinely want to go out of tickets to make a quick, relatively easy buck at the click of a mouse. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Sorry if that sounds primary school.

But that's like saying that shopkeepers should sell their products at cost! It's called business! I'm sure that any Manics fans that had spare tickets would sell them on here anyway!

No need to apologise... it didn't sound primary school at all.

No, it's like a guy buying selling something with a price printed on it at cost then selling it on at twice or more times that price in an alley.

Seriously, the prices the tickets are sold at originally aren't "cost", they already sell at a profit. The venues are the final sales outlet, just because some fucker decides to buy up some of the limited stock and sell them in the internet equivalent of the back of his van at inflated prices doesn't make it a legitimate business.

It has more in common with drug dealing than it does a shop.

But it is legitimate surely... otherwise it wouldn't be allowed on ebay would it?

Business is fine, if it is personal endeavour to make money through legitimate means which doesn't cause misery for other people. Say I started up a shop selling tins of baked beans, that would be a legitimate business. Touting is not OK because it causes misery for people who really want to go to that gig. The fact that it is easy, and you don't have to leave the house to do it makes it popular with the opportunistic.

Touting is not a legitimate business, and the fact that there is a push for revision of current legislation means that a lot of people are extremely hacked off with it. Drug dealing is highly profitable, and pretty easy, but you wouldn't do it because it is wrong and results in a chain of misery. If touting had the same level of legislative protection thrown at it, would you still do it?

The government is currently (finally) investigating it. There are plenty of instances where ebay has blocked and removed touted tickets.
