No, a general question. Feel free.

Oh, and whilst we're editing: I mean yes, of course I was singling you out with my criticism of a concept you haven't exhibited.

Haha ok. i was like what?! I wasn't saying that at all, for the record. Just that there are a fair few lyrics that mean nothing to read, but come to life when put to music.

Loving this concept it's impossible to take issue with lyrics if they're not in a musical context. Why? Isn't that like saying you don't care if it's meaningless twaddle if it has a good tune? Personally I want lyrics which have meaning as well as being the vehicle for a vocal melody.
Well personally I think there is room for both. Have to agree with what Jeff Lynne said about the simpler way of putting things across is often the best way to get songs out to a mass audience. Nothing wrong with deeper lyrics or anything but it depends what you are looking to achieve with a particular album I suppose.

Or maybe the tweet about Godfather 3 was from the Midnight Sun song?
We absolutley sure Midnight Sun is a cover version? Maybe Godfather 3 lyric is the oldest of the lyrics tweeted and the rest of the lyrics (which I never had a problem with) are more sophisticated?

And it's rained and thunderstorm has gone away outside my window.

I don't think anyone is exactly worrying about it This thread is called 'Manics on Twitter', so it's hardly surprising Tweets the band have made on their Twitter page are being discussed within this thread.

There's always a big thread whenever Nicky puts a message up on the official website, along with a subsequent discussion about his handwriting and spelling mistakes; I don't really see how this is much different to the usual discussion that follows updates directly from the band.

Re: the heavy metal tamla stuff. Up until this point I've been thinking it's just Nicky mistyping tabla but now I checked that it's some Motown related stuff.

"Heavy metal Motown" has gotta beat "Guns 'n' Roses playing All You Need Is Love"!

Motown = uplifting.
Heavy metal = riffs.

I hope Nicky's not lying.

I'm just gonna get in there now and say that the b-sides are better than half the album tracks.

Dear Prudence, Stanley Road, now that is promising a lot.
I'm liking these b side descriptions a lot though.
