Tsunami is probably the least interesting of the demos because it is basically the live version. Tolerate is also a bit boring as it doesn't sound much different to the single version. The live rehearsal demos are very interesting, particularly Be Natural. I guess this is how it would have sounded had they played it live back in 98.

Having sat with the demo's for an hour or so, I'm not sure how we got TIMT in its final form. Listening to the demos, while having the same structures, the songs sound completely different. It really makes me value the production on the final products. If any of the albums deserve a making of documentary, it's surely TIMT. It really seems like the band completely changed the way they approach music making between these demos and the final album. Where the demos sound like they're rushing, the recorded songs just have this endless quality where they breath for an entirely. I could easily see an album with most of the demo's where Prologue, Montana and Black holes as singles.

"I'm not Working" sounds like it's the song that uses the Coral Electric Sitar that JDB was reputed to be using at the time. I don't know why but I always saw that as a keyboard part before.

Listening to the demo version of “Be Natural” immediately brought this to mind. Skip to 2:46.

Never made that connection before.

Mine’s still not turned up yet.

The mp3s also say that they were produced in 2013. Don't know if that's an accident or if it's been shelved a while.

Not sure why we bother buying stuff now
Exactly why I haven't bought the physical release. Now I'll admit, I will probably pick this up in the future when it's been reduced as the artwork looks gorgeous. But really, why would I pay the ridiculous price of £35 when I can just listen to it all on Spotify? I've saved myself the cost of going to see them play it live now!

I haven't even got a CD or record player, I had to put the CDs in the DVD player and even that had to be plugged in first!

I buy the boxes mainly to keep the band in operation as I doubt Spotify pays for many mansions.

The main takeaway from disc 2 is that they messed up bad with the album version of SYMM. The demo had potential to grow into something much better than what they ended up with.
