When you go to work do you think "oh, someone else might want this job", if you buy the last loaf of bread at the corner shop do you think "someone else needs this more than me". We've all got the same opportunity to buy tickets and it's not a competition but some of us are more determined than others. If you think fans are greedy for wanting to go to a few gigs, I'd love to know what you think of touts.

Back in 2007 MSP went on a publicity drive that meant I got to see them about 7 times in London doing various different things - TV shows, gigs etc - I was pretty sick of them by the end of the year and I don't get why anyone would want to do a tour (I understand even less those who do multiple nights at the same venue) but to each their own.

Personally, I think absence makes the heart grow fonder.
There's more to the UK than London you know. Llandudno was one of my favourite surprises, I expected it to be "the coastal town that they forgot to close down" but it really is beautiful. Personally, the road trip is part of the fun. Seeing my favourite band is always good, but seeing them in places I wouldn't otherwise consider going is a new experience. I don't care if the sets are predictable, I enjoy them.

This is another very good point. It makes it a real adventure to go travelling and see new places and maybe even make new friends there. Crowds differ between places as well, often quite palpably. Totally agree about Llandudno, one of my favourite places and the Manics gig there in 2011 is up there with the best. I also saw my aforementioned second favourite band ever (Grammatics) supporting Bloc Party there and it was one of the best times I saw them too. I really like Venue Cymru, it doesn't feel as intimidating to me as other venues that size.

I just enjoy seeing some of my friends and usually the pre and post gig activity can be better than the actual performance sometimes. I've seen the band too many times now and obviously listened to bootlegs to death. Sometimes it's just nice to catch up with your mates who you rarely see!

I missed the 2011 gig but I was at the 2009 one. I just remember the train getting closer and closer and feeling more and more captivated by the scenery. I'd quite hapily go back even if Manics weren't playing . It's not just the 4 hours in the venue that make the gig memorable, it's the journey, who you're with, where it is etc. If they play summat obscure, even better.

Very good idea! I'm actually in Manchester the Friday before that gig hopefully meeting the gangly one, simply down to a major hotel booking fail on my part. So, if you're around it would be good to meet up for a drink

Glad I'm not the only one who enjoys 'trudging around the UK'. I don't queue, but I do get to places I wouldn't usually go to, enjoy the change of scenery, see friends, see my favourite band, go to more venues, make life-affirming memories. From a seedy piss-up in Glasgow to a midnight barbecue on a Llandudno beach, I can think of many worse things to do. Never thought I'd have to list the enjoyment factors of going to gigs.

I have no doubt that this is happening.

I'm a multiple date person too, for the last ten years it's been my way of having a holiday. I love the road trip, the nights in different cities, meeting up with friends from all over the country. My husband is even more of a homebody than me, and over the last six years we've only taken three weeks holiday away from home, apart from weekends spent at Manics gigs. Someone who only goes to one gig may complain that the multiple gig goers are depriving them of a ticket, (which we're not, see tout sites) but on the other hand, we're keeping up demand and making sure that the band keeps touring

Not sure if this has been mentioned already in this topic but I decided to check what Manorbier is from Wikipedia, and this bit was there:

"Manorbier" is the title of an instrumental track on the album Rewind the Film by Welsh rock band Manic Street Preachers, whose bassist and lyricist Nicky Wire often holidays in nearby Tenby.

If that's true (Wikipedia, random edits, credibility, etc), that'd be the first Manics instrumental to make it to an actual album.
