Not sure why they keep comparing it too THB either. Walk Me To The Bridge has more in common with SATT than THB from what I can hear.

Okay so I've pre-ordered the CD Singed Deluxe and the Vinyl off the Official Store. Y'know, because I'm an obsessed fan and that.

But do I get the two MP3's as a pre-release download? Oh no. Of course not.

Pointless whinging over and done. Normal service (as a customer services manager who has to deal with pathetic mewing like this daily) will resume now.

I don't have the scanning facility, but Futurology has had a four star review from Dorian Lynskey in the new Q (It has Kasabian on the cover), page 113.

Highlights according to Q are: Walk Me To The Bridge, Europa Geht Durch Mich, Lets Go To War, Divine Youth (Georgia Ruth is "spellbinding" it says) and Dreaming A City (Hugheskova).

Everytime I see the band in that pose of Nicky in the middle and Sean and James scowling to the sides, I always think that they are standing in the middle of giant carpark and wondering where they parked the car.

Well, three columns of a review later I still have no idea what it actually sounds like. So much mythologising, so little critical appraisal... yup, sounds like Q.

The photo is deeply Burtons.

The initial excitement I felt with this is dwindling with everything I read about it... hurry up and release the damn thing before I'm completely bored of all the half-arsed comparisons.

Feels like the review is an issue too early.

JDB and Sean are doing a good impression of a synth pop duo. The tall bloke in the middle who forgot to brush his hair is cramping their style.

I can still remember the relief people expressed on here after I posted my review of JFPL, having had chance to hear it before release, because all of the reviews that we'd had up until that point were the same old cryptic bullshit that never actually told you anything. When an album is reviewed, I want a track-by-track analysis, dammit!!

Here is the 'Y' review.

BITTE SCHÖN
The appliance of science.

MANIC STREET PREACHERS
FUTUROLOGY

SONY, OUT APRIL, no, MAY, no, JUNE, no, JULY
The Manics. They are a band of musicians. Through their long career, they have released songs, but also albums. Last year they released an album, Rewind The Film, and now they have a new one.
Deeply considering the sonic chiaroscuro of the two albums' opposition of acoustic mellifluousness and its brasher european cousin, one gets the sense that this band are as vital as ever.
It has to be noted that this sounds nothing quite like anything any one of several influences might sound like if it were more like this sounds. Oblique and far from ostensibly on show, the shadowy influence of the likes of 2 Unlimited, Dr Alban and Basshunter are possibly not the foremost inspirations for Futurology, but the mildest hint of their pop-storming history cannot be underestimated too much.
Sean Moore is in the Manics. He is the least well-known one amongst non-fans, so mentioning him shows an expert knowledge of the band, who are from Wales.
Futurology was recorded in a studio, like lots of albums are. It's telling that professional audio products use studios, it informs the public these guys are serious, like other bands who also recorded in studios. It's like when you get stats about a football team from the 1920s, you can see the direct link between players who are now dead and referring to them as if they are actually playing now, it makes total sense.
Words feature heavily in almost all the songs - except the instrumentals. This is normal, but the Manics do it in a way that is almost entirely unique (the only exception to that uniqueness being other bands who release a mixture of songs with words with instrumentals). Walk Me To The Bridge, an øde tø the Øresund Bridge that we saw on the telly prøgramme (I førget the name øf it nøw, I think it was called 'The Structure' ør sømething) is a søaring metaphør før the bridging øf beføre they wrøte the søng – and, in a startling turn øf events – afterwards as well.
Nicky Wire complains about the internet, probably.
The album has some guest vocalists. We knew this before listening to the album, and anyone could have googled this fact in a few seconds, so it's worth saying this utterly old news is here mainly as filler, and any subjective view on the guest singers' performances won't help you get much of an idea about anything.
They use the word 'and' in a few songs, I reckon. It's like a bridge, when you think about it. ★★★★
ARTHUR MADEUPNAME
Download: Might as well download all of it really, or at least stream it all then you can decide yourself instead of someone telling you.
OCTOBER 2014 Y

So Amazon are saying the album is out on the 4th July in the UK now. They should probably let the official site know.
