Well then. I've just been adding up some numbers, and I am owed approximately £200 in expenses from work. Which, conveniently enough, would cover the super-dooper-mega-boxset. This realisation may have made my mind up.

there's no reason why they couldn't put all the tracks from the singles that had 2 CD singles all on one CD. Blur did that with their singles box set.

this box is most likely going to be similar to the Clash Singles box set that came out a few years ago. especially with the description, "vinyl finish CD singles" which is how the Clash CD singles were made.

So Suicide Alley, New Art Riot and Jackie Collins all get represented in the box set version, how come they don't appear on the bog standard edition?

Because then they'd have an excuse to use the crappy FD edits again to fit everything on. Be careful what you wish for.

I don't think the Manics would be allowed to do that as they were both fanzine pressings I think.

The Manics Official Store states "39 audio tracks on 39 CDs" and has a picture of a white box with gold lettering and it's at £165 inc delivery

i'm pretty sure the Manics can do whatever they'd like since the music belongs to them.

I guess, but they are crap quality anyway, so I'm not too bothered about them.

i'm guessing "39 audio tracks on 39 CDs" means no b-sides...

The lack of b-sides is a shocker. On the plus side, I was never going to listen to any of it anyway. It's the general uninspired appearance of the box itself which has left me wondering why I feel the need to throw my money away on it.

I also wonder if they'll even bother with b-sides on the three vinyl singles and what would go on the JCEQT one anyway? And what's the track on the 39th CD? Ooh, it's like an episode of Lost.

Boy that's a relief, a ridiculously priced box set not stuck with a single extra track or demo unavailable elsewhere. 2CD/DVD version + vinyl will do nicely now, might bother if it goes below £50 but £165 is a rip off.
