Ruins, for me, are the beginning. With the debris, you can construct new ideas.” Anselm Kiefer This week, new Manic Street Preachers music became available online via legal and illegal download stores. As many have gathered, this wasn’t the launch we had in mind for a campaign that we’re all incredibly excited about. Originally, the plan had been to issue information on 'Walk Me To The Bridge' and the album 'Futurology' at the start of this week. That date moved due to the album release going back a fortnight – unfortunately several online retailers didn’t manage to take the track off their schedules. This has caused horrendous problems for us and a lot of confusion for you. Full details of the album will be released on Monday 28th April along with Kieran Evans’ video for 'Walk Me To The Bridge'. Thanks for your patience and understanding. MSP + Sony

That's a relief, at least they were active enough to address this before it got too ridiculous.

I can't tell if that's sarcasm or not

I feel quite bad for all involved. What a faff.

Translation: Nicky had hoped to spend the week tweeting some grandiose statements that the song couldn't live up to. He's very upset.

By the way, the NZ listing had the album down for a July release. The statement appears to back that up. It's tradition for Sony to delay MSP albums for no apparent reason and then wonder why everything always gets leaked.

No sarcasm, based on recent events I wasn't expecting an official message like this so soon.

After all that's happened I actually feel some sympathy towards the band. It's not their fault. Sony / Ooh FFS have fucked this all up. It's nice that they've finally put us all in the picture and now we know what's going on. I wonder if the band have been trawling the internet reading our comments.... that would be scary.

They should be more concerned that the people looking at this thread are the only ones who know/care that there is a new Manics song 'out there'. They may as well have signed up, put that Facebook message in here and carried on as they were.

I laugh, but I really don't doubt this.

Sony are playing with fire angering a band with a Sean in it. I'll be surprised if their offices are still standing by the end of the week.

This. Whilst you can't blame the fans being excited and if it's available getting/listening to it, but this was in now way how it was all intended to come out and just hope it doesn't effect sales when it comes out properly. Hopefully the sales from 7digital and Google play will still count. They've done well to contain it tbf.

But still yay, new video on Monday wonder what Keiran has in store this time!

Time waits for no Manics song!

It does seem ironic that an album, which they wanted as a way forward, seems to be getting scuppered because of how music gets consumed in the modern age i.e. downloads.

Still no word on why the album has been pushed back though? To coincide with the upcoming festival season perhaps???

I'd be amazed if there's been any more than 100 early downloads seeing as you had to be actively looking for a download link in the first place.
