Agree.I can't see why these bands are so much acclaimed cos i see nothing special in their music.
Lifeblood is a great album in my opinion.Classic rock or not doesn't matter.

Except they don't. I never understand why people defend one band by simply listing a load of other bands that they don't like.

Arctic Monkeys? There is very little in common at all between their debut and what they've just released.

Ah but to know that you'd actually have to have, like, listened to those albums.

I can't stand Arctic Monkeys, haven't heard a single album of theirs in full, and even I know that they've gone through quite significant sound changes between their albums. All of those bands have, bar maybe Athlete and Embrace (I've zero idea about them so cannot vouch for them either way).

I like the Foo Fighters' first two albums but everything afterward got a little too generic for my tastes. Wouldn't call them an AWFUL band, just generic.

Was that Nicky's 'Within You Without You'?

My Little Empire and SYMM are both masterpieces. Classic Rock? Pffft, what do they know?

Whether you like Arctic Monkeys or not, their albums don't all sound the same

Arctic Monkeys only have one good album, they all sound fairly different. Third album was a real departure (in the wrong direction)

As for Lifeblood... no classics, 6 really good tracks, lots of average filler, nothing truly terrible. 6/10 Deserved most of the reviews it got in my opinion, certainly their worst album.

Contrary to the title, this was anemic: a huge, wafty, water-treading record that reaches for ‘epic’ but defies even the most die-hard fan to recall a single memorable hook, barbed lyric or reason for listening. It’s no surprise that Lifeblood dropped like a stone from the UK chart, that both Bradfield and Wire would dip into solo projects afterwards, or that 2007’s Send Away The Tigers felt like an embarrassed apology.

Bloody awful
That's not what they said at the time in 2004! Having found their original review of Lifeblood I can confirm that they gave it 4 out of 5 stars and called it

there are none more likely to hate this new Manic Street Preachers album with quite the same passion as the self-styled true Manics fan for whom everything since 1994's 'The Holy Bible' is anathema.
Oh the fickle nature of music journalism.
