Some brief but enjoyable contributions from Sean during the interview.

The two tracks from the new album sounded better than they do on the record. YSTS didn't impress and I much prefer the JDB b-side solo version of Summer Wind to today's effort.

The secret he had missed is fast turning into one of my favourite duets of theirs - the complimentary vocals, the glorious descending scale chorus, the lifeblood-esque guitar - good job, manics! It is kind of a great melancholic manics song in its own right though.
I wouldn’t be surprised if that radio 2 session becomes the definitive live version as well, much like solitude sometimes is was never quite as punchy as that first outing at isle of wight festival.

and high and very far away he saw the spiral arms of military systems, forever beyond his reach.
And somewhere he was laughing, in a white-painted loft, distant fingers caressing the deck, tears of release streaking his face.

Maiden are not only a huge live attraction but their albums still sell very well. Their last one from 2015 was a No.1 in 24 countries, including the UK. Almost a certainty they will hit the top spot the week of release.

It's easier to get higher in the charts if you capitalistically get your fans to buy multiple formats. Each one counts.

Several different colour vinyls, different formats of CD/CD book....

...remind you of anyone?

In fairness to Iron Maiden, their album has ten tracks and is over 80 minutes long. None of my routine ‘it’s the same self-inflicted 3:30 min (approx) radio edit formula every time’ moaning to be had there…

In terms of formats, Coldplay don’t have to do this for chart positions or making money, they just decided to do it anyway.

In fairness that looks awesome. And it’s like the guy from Resistance is Futile woke up/was resurrected from death and isn’t happy about it.

Edit: Lol, apparently the album title, Senjutsu means something like “tactics and strategy”, which seems apt in the context we’re talking about it.

Edit edit: the Coldplay stuff looks nice too. It’s great these bands are making an effort for physical releases, even if it’s a dying art.
