What a dreadful album cover, is this a joke? Much worse than lipstick traces. What is this supposedly symbolising? The first 4 album covers were fantastic. Lifeblood has a superb cover.

This will not stand the test of time.

I like to think that whether an album will stand the test of time or not is more to do with the music than the cover art.

I quite like the cover. It's not remarkable, but it's not offensively bad.

It has grown on me, but it's still not the best cover they've had. But in the end, it grabs your attention (if only to say "what the hell is that?") and the music will overall be what matters.

Needs more R.

But yeah, the wider shot looks much better than the close-up. Gives it more space and looks a tad more stylish anyway (if you can make a pic like that stylish).

And easily beats GT's cover so it's not the worst cover they've done.

I hope when the album comes out the booklet will have new photos of the Manics themselves.

I didn't mean the music, I meant the cover. There are numerous books and the odd Q special issue dedicated to album cover art. The manics albums have always rated quite highly as they have been very symbolistic and have complemented the music.

This one I don't get - maybe I'm missing the point.

Lifeblood's cover was fantastic. Nothing wrong with this one in my opinion. Hooray for ladies on album covers.

I see. Well maybe it's symbolism (if any) will become more apparent on hearing the album (which you may have done, I haven't!). To be honest, I don't think any of their album covers are particularly iconic (except perhaps EMG), although they are distinctive.

From the few tracks I've heard, and the articles Nicky has recently written it seems that they're trying to recapture their youthful attitudes (again). I don't think the girls themselves represent this, rather their outfits seem to echo the 'presentation' aspect that the band (and the fans) have had in the past. This carries through to the reversed 'R', of the THB era. The pale colours are more similar to the covers of EMG and TIMTTMY, which may indicate an acknowledgment of the more recent period. Not sure if it links in with the title at all though.

I've heard most of the album and still fail to recognise what some random girls from a photo book dressed up as twats have to do with potentially the best Manics album yet.

If I go to amazon.co.uk and type Send Away The Tigers into the search bar, the Valerie Phillips book comes up in the list. Does it do that for everyone?

Its far more interesting than the EMG and TIMTTMY covers together imo. I like the fact that the girls dont look like models. They look normal. And the theme is nice as well. Among their best covers i think.

I'll be the odd one out, but hell i like it.

It's symbolising makes sense. It's font isn't apart from the R's Holy Bible unlike the single cover.

But yeah your Manics fans, HATE AND DESTROY EVERYTHING.
