It's a good album overall, there's a few not so great songs on there as with every Manics album, I don't get why fans see fit to just bash this album and period in general like it's a hip thing to do all of a sudden. It got them new fans, it got them radio/TV play, lead them to back to being talked about by general music fans/got that NME award on the back of this period, seemed to actually like playing live again and it's just a fun rocky/pop record. As always my only gripes about the album are Autumnsong lyrics being a bit naff, Winterlovers being not so amazing but it's OK and that's it with me, it's a fine album to have in a career spanning as long as the Manics have had. Stop moaning about it if you don't Goddamn like this or that.

I can't believe it came out 5 years ago! (I thought it came out around 3 years ago for some reason. Maybe because the past three years have gone by so fast for me?)

Anyway, I guess I was only a year out of high school so a year into university, a Psychology major (but switched to Nonprofits very soon after), a bright and cheery young thing, obsessing over the upcoming election already, working at a little restaurant with my preggars sister and and losing all my friends. Someone mentioned the "last shot at mass communication" bit I distinctly remember reading Nicky's thing saying that. Also, I remember being in Atlanta that summer and getting really excited because unlike Memphis, there were quite a few ads and reviews for the album in all the Atlanta magazines and newspapers Feels like yesterday.

I'm 5 years into college now (yes, still in university) and work at a preschool, a Sociology major, very different from how I was 5 years ago... I think I listened to Send Away the Tigers once, disliked it very much, and didn't listen to it again for about another 2 years. It's grown on me.

I just find this really funny (funny-peculiar, like) because if I were asked to name the biggest difference between the two albums, it would be the exact inverse of this - for me, SATT sounds a lot more engaged than PFAYM. Postcards feels like it's had all its spirit sapped out of it.

I love the manics. That being said, I don't think there is a single song (other than that Baby Baby Baby song by Justin Beiber) that makes me cringe more than Underdogs does.

Five years ago I had forgotten about Manics for years but heard YLAINE on the radio and bought SATT. I grew tired of it very quickly, but as I had a bit earlier left my job as journalist and was making my living by cleaning offices while thinking of what to do next, WCH kept playing in my head a lot that summer. True story.

As a record, I think it holds together.

The thing is, when i listen to music, i listen to albums, and i don't skip tracks, even if i don't totally like them.

SATT has got three fantastic tracks - Underdogs, Imperial Bodybags and Rendition.

Your Love alone was a pretty good single too.

However, there was too much crap on it, The title track, The Second Great Depression, Autumnsong and I am Just a Patsy were fairly poor in music and lyric.

It's OK, but it's not JFPL

Just listened to the James + Nina acoustic version of YLAINE, that's some nice stuff there.

I don't rate the video, but it's one of their underrated singles, love the chorus.
