These beautiful lines from Golden Platitudes

What happened to those days
When everything seemed possible
With no one to tell you no

Yes! Can't believe I forgot this. The whole song is magical, but particularly those bits.

Still my favorite part of any Manics song.
These two are excellent ragey bits

1. Postcards from a Young Man
1.1. "impo-o-oose its will..." = that melisma JDB does on "impose" is very hard to do, and a testament to his skills as a singer
1.2. and all the way up to the gospel chorus to the end

2. I Live to Fall Asleep
the call and answer of "How could you become / another boy struck dumb"

3. Australia and No Surface All Feeling
the ends in particular

4. My Little Empire and All Is Vanity
pretty much the whole song

So many too mention!

pretty much all of As Holy As The Soil, and especially 'As holy as those nights we walked in the rain
I love you so, will you please come home.'
'
As beautiful as the spring in Japan
As generous as your safe strong hands
As wasted as the lifetimes we spent apart
I love you so will you please come home'

'Oh I love you so won't you please come home
Oh, it's been so long, I can't let go.'

When the chorus kicks in for the first time in "Nobody Loved You". And the " so why, so why so sad" is sung with so much of a strange, cathartic, almost accusatory emotion it stirs something up in me every time.
