i don't get the obsession with what the crowd are doing... they respond when required.. would be a problem if they were mute but i heard lots of singing

I feel a bit bad for the performers who are giving everything to a crowd who don't give much energy back. But like you say there was the singing, plus the crowd directly in front of them were giving it some.

I don't get it either. I mean, I feel bad for those like Sue who had a hard time hearing because some people were using the gig like it was an outdoor pub rather than a live gig - that would annoy the shit out of me too - but the complaints about casual fans or people just standing around, are pretty silly. I'm not too sure why anyone would let that ruin their own personal experience/enjoyment. :/

Thanks but you werent there so as you said, youve no idea. TV sound comes direct from soundboard. Complaint wasnt about the soundboard audio.

It's an outdoor gig in a field! It's not going to sound like a theatre. What did people expect with a venue like that?

it should be loud enough to compensate... I went to a very poorly sounding Oasis gig at a football stadium and the drunks around me were louder ... made it less enjoyable.. I was under the speakers in Cardiff so no sound problems my end..

It wasn't a great crowd, and the singing was pretty crap compared to an inside gig...but it's a field and it's 9000 fans, a lot of which are probably less hardcore than the front of a smaller gig....it's a bit inevitable. A lot of people probably find it pretty tough to sing along to the holy bible, even if they are quite familiar with it too!

They sounded fine on TV

Maybe if you'd been there you'd have been there, you'd be in a better position to judge how they sounded to those that actually went to the gig.

With it being an outdoor gig in the city centre, they may also have had noise restrictions placed on them by the Council, which would have capped the sound levels to 10 rather than 11!

The sound check on Thursday afternoon was certainly loud enough to scare the poor squirrels in Bute Parc

Just seeing the setlist now; the reviews; and amazed there is a 90 minute BBC video on YouTube of the show!! I've been away for a few weeks, this is all a massive surprise for me..

Condemned to Rock'n'Roll! Removables!! (double exclamation mark), Golden Platitudes!!! (triple exclamation mark dang it!) Sex Power Love a-Money!!!! I had 'Platitudes' on the ipod just this morning before venturing off to work, thought how good it would sound if played Live
