A problem with being a fan of MSP is often having to experience frustrating, illogical scenarios like this b-side issue may end up being. Why is it rarely simple and obvious!?

As it seems almost certain that the band has an idea of the discussions on here sometimes, PLEASE PUT ALL OF THE ASSOCIATED B-SIDES IN THE BOXSET. THERE'S STILL TIME TO DO SO AND DELAY THE RELEASE IF NEEDED. Clarify that this is the case, Wire.

Is the DVD going to be available outside of the boxset?

Should be available as part of the DVD/CD combo for about £14.

There's a 2CD/DVD instead of the box. Probably won't be able to get the DVD on it's own.

They should do what Blur did with their singles box set back in '99; include all b-sides per single. For the Modern Life Is Rubbish singles there were at least seven b-sides due to formatting.

Surely MSP are not going to ignore the dvd audio b-sides?

As much of a massive fan I am, I think I'll pass on the set until it comes down in price

might be via amazon marketplace, depends how Sony choose to dispose of the unsold stock.

although a quick search on amazon suggests none of the unsold CD2 from any of the PFAYM singles have made it into the hands of amazon marketplace dealers yet.

pretty much all of us who could afford it would, mate. if they really are disappearing for 2-3 years (2012 anti-Queen Jubilee gig?) and "drawing a line" under a period, then a definitive retrospective would be a nice way to sign off for a while and the more flush with funds fans would be happy to given them a nice financial send off for a while.

seems a bit daft to limit sales that way. They're going to have a lot left over. The PFAYM box is still available a year later.

it's an act of insanity that the music business, who lest we forget keep claiming that piracy and illegal downloads are killing their business, are increasingly guilty of.

sorry, this has come up before, but Liam Gallagher was "shocked" when one of the singles from Beady Eye's album didn't chart, as did Pope Bono when the one decent song off No Line On The Horizon was released as a single and failed to chart. in both instances, you could only buy it directly from their website, it was a limited run (and limited to an extent that you couldn't chart as and when you sold them all volume wise) and was officially "deleted" on day of release.

Sony really do not want the Manics to sell for some reason. lest we forget the Youtube debacle, where people outside of the UK are or were blocked from seeing the (rather expensive) PFAYM single videos. a cheap and easy way to promote the band to a slightly bigger audience and what do they do? limit it.

well OF COURSE a single isnt going to chart if its only available from a band's website ! Didn't know about the manics videos not being available. They were shite anyway I get your point tho.. stupid sony but i guess all their focus are the young bands cos reaching 40 is SO OUT OF ORDER

then they have a funny idea as to what a young band is when you click on their featured artists page. sure, i like Ozzy, AC/DC and certainly appreciate Robert Johnson.

best of all is when you click on "all" or even "alternative" and "rock/pop" on their online music store. guess who doesn't seem to exist.

although 10/10 to Sony for hiding Aerosmith, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Judas Priest and Slayer under their popmarket page.

they're hiding bruce springsteen ?? He's not doing too bad. Would the ordinary joe bloggs bother with visiting record company websites. I bet most people barely know who their favourite artists are signed to.

Oh... so I've missed the meeting where they leave off the DVD so you just have 2 CDs and still call it "Deluxe"?

I think rather than complain we should say what we want in the boxset, someone's been paying attention since the whole thing about the 1 track singles got scrubbed. I'd buy it for ALL the B-sides including the acoustic tracks from the Motorcycle Emptiness 2003 reissue.

If in doubt by the Japanese reissues, Lipstick traces and you'll have pretty much everything anyway :-).
