aaah Lifeblood Jools Holland was really awful. Compared to JFPL performance... Lifeblood songs suffer from their willing to play them exactly as they were recorded...

The best thing about that tour was the stage show (big screens, backing videos and everything was white), the fact that they played Die In The Summertime and the new energy and sound that came with having an extra guitarist.
Oh, and the fact that everyone booed when James brought out his horrendous Flying V. That was amusing.
Most Lifeblood tracks just sounded flat and horrible in those Arenas, except Empty Souls, 1985 and Song For Departure. TLORN was very dull, especially in a half-full arena.

I love the Lifeblood Jools Holland performances, Song for Departure is amazing. And yeah like Midlands Junk said, the tour was cool with the screens, video wall behind them and the white look all over. Happy memories of that.

Yeah, it was a great tour. I remember being ridiculously excited before the first night in Brighton.

You are so right in terms of Empty Souls, whose best live outing remains the first one from the IOW festival.

I remember that and used to have it on MP3 but lost it a few years ago. Does anyone still have it? I seem to remember it being slightly faster than the album version, which was cool.

I agree about TLORN; it didn't really work live. 1985 works though and it sounded great when they played it on the winter arena tour in 2007 as well.

Of course. I listen to it properly nearly every month It's faster and better and played without any sampled rubbish. It sounds very Manics-esque.

THIS! i thought 1985 translated really well live, as did Cardiff Afterlife (though would have loved for James to get the Harmonica out for the intro of that one)
