Futurology special!
"We were young..." in "Empty Motorcade" "I sing to myself, my civil war's within" in "Divine Youth" All of the verses of "Next Jet To Leave Moscow" - it's not quite goosebumps, it's something tinglier, like it's barely tolerable how friggin sweet these verses feel, pure concentrated goodness there. In the tone of delivery, the chords and the ideas of the words, and especially how he sings "yesteryear"... James' snarky lyrics are a different beast from Nicky's, much more humane and just downright cuter. Last edited by Marat Sar; 14-07-2014 at 22:16. |

That, absolutely, definitely and forever and ever! ;-) Especially when James is singing it towards the end, although I like Georgia Ruth's vocals as well. And the moment when James comes in with "the victories and failures".
Also, most of PFAYM's lyrics: "I don't believe the absolutes anymore / I'm quite prepared to admit I was wrong"; "I'll send you postcards every single day just to prove I still exist / This world will not impose its will / I will not give up, etc."; "I won't betray your confidence". I know many people here hate the song (and album) because of the production, but for me those lyrics just hit the nail on the head for what I've been feeling lately. |

Oh! And Some Kind of Nothingness too, with better production and a pure, non-duet James vocal, with those lyrics: "remember you, stretched out in the sun", how regally they works on those chords, and the "still and lonely, like an old school photograph" part, and the whole friggin lot! The songwriting is devastating, how it turned out is a pale shadow of the idea, though I get goosebumps thinking of it, when I hear it, I just feel like I'm 64 years old. And sucking on a Werther's Original, because that's exactly how it's produced. Un-nuanced sweetness, hard, round, and textureless,

The ending of Nobody Love You too.
The Guitar bridge in Archives of Pain (astonishing) The guitar bridge in The Love of Richard Nixon The line "I laughed when Lennon got shot" in Motown Junk (cos I hate the Beattles, also now I know what JDB means when he sings "I'm the Schadenfreude" The Line "Even to remember I would like to live" in the song "I Live to Fall Asleep" The whole "So why so sad" although the video is shit The whole song of "Masking Tape" The song "IfWhiteAmerica..."" The last lines in The Future has been here The whole song, lyrics and arrangements of "Sleepflower" And of course the musical bridges or riff in "Motorcycle..." 'Are we too tired to try and understand?' followed by JDB's surging riff.
All of 'I Live To Fall Asleep' 'Let me hide under the sheets ' and the rising string section that follows The piano cascade in 'Motorcycle Emptiness' JDB screaming 'WHO'S RESPONSIBLE?!' Many, many more...

The end of the solo in She is suffering, when the guitar line continues well into the third verse slowly fading away...

Basically every line of every song when it's played live and everyone around you is singing/screaming along. Hands in the air and all.
