You can definitely see the genesis for Lifeblood in some of these tracks.

Luckily for me, a good friend has VPN knowledge and I have now been able to hear my favourite KYE track, “Dead Martyrs”. I am absolutely blown away by how good it sounds and how brilliant the new ending is. Love that the chorus riff is given a moment to shine by cutting out the last chorus vocal and the general mix reveals so much stuff that you could only vaguely make out before. Hearing how good this sounds has definitely gotten me excited for tomorrow!

I listened to a few on NZ YouTube and they’re … interesting. Not going to spoil the whole thing for myself until at least tomorrow though, when I listen in higher quality.

Whatever I think of the new versions they won’t replace or destroy the originals, so ‘it’s all gravy’, as they say, a big fat album of alternate versions of songs I love? Yes please. It wouldn't surprise me if I end up preferring some new versions of some tracks and the originals versions of others, and make a mix’n’match KYE playlist of my own.

Intentionally just listened through the demos. Some of the demo lyrics are truly awful namely Baby Elian and Masses. Interesting to hear demos though that are truly demos and not the recent produced “demos”. I think Epicentre is the best of the lot though Wire’s Watsville Blues is all there in his demo.

Waiting for the vinyl to listen to the actual albums.

Wire's demo is great purely for the dog barking and the phone going off in the background (inspiration for My Guernica?).

Still absolutely livid about what they did with DTTR. Thankfully I can still listen to the original but would have really like to have heard a better effort at remixing it.

Everything else I've heard so far sounds great, though....

No one's mentioned it so far but Groundhog Days - Wow, sounds absolutely amazing.

That alternate FTS sounds like Go With the Flow by QOTSA with the prominently more audiable piano.

Yeah that’s exactly what I’m looking forward to. Even though some of the old demos are incredibly rough and unlistenable at times, they are proper demos and not polished versions.

I’m on holiday so I’ll get the download in a few hours but forgot my headphones 😢 Very much looking forward to the t-shirt and 3CD set arriving and having a good listen through them.

I'm guessing the strings were added for the FD release? This versions sounds weird because Sean is clearly playing drums for something epic where the rest of the instrumentation is more subdued.

Possibly one set of proper demos left - Lifeblood

Sorry to go there. Sorry for loss. But be just typical if Royal Correspondent kicks up another fuss that adds to the Manics Curb Your Enthusiasm escapees.

Probably a good job they didn't remix Royal Correspondent as part of the reissue.

Yeah, most likely that was the case. It almost sounds like a rough demo because there's clearly very little instrumentation. They could have kept the electric guitar and the backing vocals because it just sounds so boring and empty now. They've totally stripped the song of all of its beauty.
