So it's basically going to be Forever Delayed + some more tracks. :-(

Why cont give us a mighty collection of all non-album tracks released over the years.

Well they have already done that with Lipstick Traces, it woul'nt be seen as commercial viable to do that again, there would only be hardcore fans buying it. Nicky woul'nt be able to face the commercial flop of an album!!

I'm not so sure about this one. 10 years passed since FD and I don't think they made such a base of new fans that could make National Treasures a Top 5 album. It's rather targeted for the medium-hardcore fans as there's too much similarities between FD and NT content. Unless they re-record everything, which can be a great idea. Every fan would buy it, would make lots and lots of things to discuss, and they could re-install themselves with the past things.

(please note the first time usage of NT as an abbreviation)

There's probably a good couple of CD's worth of non-album material that has come out since LT and to be honest, I think some of the b-sides are their best work in years. It would be a shame to let them fade into obscurity.

Not to mention all the loads and loads of material that didn't make it to Lipstick Traces in the first place.

Seeing as The The are probably my second favourite act after the Manics, I *really* hope that's who they cover. I'm surprised they've not covered them before to be honest. Nick quoted 'The Beat(en) Generation' on twitter but for some reason I don't see them doing that one. Personally I'd choose 'The Mercy Beat' from 'Infected', but 'The Violence Of Truth' or 'Heartland' from the political side, or they could carry on their recent gospel feel with 'Lonely Planet' from 'Dusk'.

I'm assuming the box set will be like The Clash one from a few years ago - the b-sides of each EP collated onto one disc. And that was pretty reasonably priced - mine was bought as a present but I know it was under £50 so hopefully it won't break the bank massively. Personally I can't wait for all the re-mastered b-sides and CD quality vinyl tracks. Just a shame if 'Postcards' isn't in it that presumably 'The Passing Show' won't be either.

Sadly, i'm planning on being skint in October so I might have to sell a kidney.

I spent most of my teen years listening to The The and the Wedding Present. So, either of those would be spooky for me. In a good way. Probably.

I reckon 'Heartland' is ready for another airing these days. Very relevant to these times etc...

Love my Clash singles collection! They should put it all in a similar type box. Keep it tidy!

In the other thread though, there's no talk of covers. Only a "new track".
Maybe these covers are going to be b-sides for the spin off single?
Oh well, the tracklisting will come out soon, get it's own thread, and then there will be blood!

A Prisoners cover would be great, but I'd love to listen to the manics covering The The and Wedding Present too... so three covers!

Aye, but I saw The Wedding Present back in December and it was fucking lovely. Somehow, I can hear Nicky singing if they did a Wedding Present cover. It's easier to imagine his mumbling drawl murdering a song like Kennedy than it is to hear James belting it out.
