Yep, shame that they don’t play more new songs when promoting an album. Loved the JFPL, THB and EMG-style setlists. All the album songs and still a good selection of hits.

PPF was amazing too.

I think they’ll do the singles, and then we’ll get People Give In and Hold Me Like A Heaven as tour staples with maybe one or two other songs chucked in on occasion. Interested to hear what these sound like live.

Hold Me Like a Heaven would be my vote for “written for the gigs”

Continuing the question about what songs will be played and setlists and the like, I do think we'll see very little, if any, of THB and prob only DFL or KC from EMG. Although, on the flip side of that, with it being TIMT 20th anniversary, we're sure to see YSTS at least 3 times during each set...!

From the album I think they'll definitely play every night:
People
IB
DC
D&C

From the album tracks I'm hoping for
Broken Algorithms
Sequels
Hold Me Like a Heaven

I'm sure they'll play Liverpool Revisited as well.

I'd say Vivan, Sadness, and Nicky's song are the only ones likely to not get played.

Nicky Wire is not The Left Behind, the victims of austerity are.
I'm doing the old fashioned thing and waiting for the release day. I have zen patience. Having cheated a little and read Porco's transcriptions may I be slightly argumentative and suggest The Left Behind might be about wanting to be left behind? Like one of the last Samurai warriors on the cover of the album times change and your time is up you understand resistance is futile and yet maybe you want to be left behind, that time passes too quick....just a thought

Maybe. But it is genuinely shite.

They should have gone for a simple NSAF type rocker to close what is a fantastic listen up to the last two songs.

Man, all these songs are ear worming into my brain. Especially People Give In and the shouty "bone, -one, -one, -one, -one, -one, -ones of the chorus of Liverpool Revisited (and I don't particularly like that song!).

B-R-O-K-E-N, Al-go-ri-hyth-ims.

I havent heard the album yet, only the releases. It sounds a good album from what I have read here. I am getting the cd and vinyl because I really like the songs I've heard so far and the history and concept, even though it has different reviews.

Is he saying "one-one-one" or is it a Pink Floyd Animals "Own... Own... Own..."?

There’s been a lot of chat about what they’ve been rehearsing so between that and all the new songs I wonder if certain albums may not get a look in. I agree nothing off THB, or JFPL. And no more than one off Futurology per night.

It sounds like there is a version lurking around. I can't wait to give the album a listen. I haven't been this excited for an album since JFPL. Seems like it might capture a bit of lifeblood and EMG.

Really enjoyed both International Blue (not just because the video is shot in Nice) and Distant Colours (the Nye Bevan reference is gold)

Sort of wish I could get my hands on a signed version, but was too skint to shell out!

Have the signed version sold out now? Seems to be no reference to them on the official store?

Yeah, that's true. Would expect a similar approach to the run up of the last two anniversary tours. They played more Holy Bible than Futurology on the Futurology tour, oops. Bringing Removeables back on that second Holy Bible tour, bringing You're Tender And You're Tired back for bits of the Everything Must Go anniversary tour.. Think they'll probably chuck a lesser played album track or Prologue in. Eh, My Little Empire came back last year too.

Loved the PPF tour, quite an adventurous approach to the sets for that tour but half a dozen albums later with the setlists not being that much longer, they're gonna find it harder to have that same approach now if they wanted to. There was one night on the Postcards tour that I saw em do more Everything Must Go than Postcards, they're quite quick to drop new stuff eh.

I thought I'd try to do that thing too, try to decide which one of the 6 versions I've bought I should listen to first

I can see that too actually... Think Wire's quite into a few of the rock n' roll cliches, death or glory, making the great lost art. James kinda had to push him into going ahead with releasing I Killed The Zeitgeist and was reading the other day a reminder of how he said he was going to write a script for Dr Who, which apparently he kind of has done, but he's keeping it to himself.. Last few times I've seen em he's looked like he'd rather be painting his shed than performing.. Suppose there's parts too of both Nicky and James being resistant to technology and social networking etc but kinda get the impression that while James is more indifferent, Nicky is more hostile. Don't Be Evil, The View From Stow Hill.. Course Nicky's dipped his toe in, Sean seems to be the most immersed in social networking and technology, didn't he have a portable DVD player in 96 or summat??

Anyway, I'm rambling again as usual. Maybe you'll form a different impression once you've heard the tone of The Left Behind, maybe you'll be reinforced, will be interested to hear either way. Lyrics not quite sunk in for me yet, either. Just think it's a bit rich to be bemoaning being The Left Behind when you're digging your heels in and so indignant about fitting in with any wider scene or whatever.

On the release date I’m going to listen to it the proper audiophile way. Cassette.
