Yeah, part of the problem with touting is that there is a market for it. I'm sure most people would prefer not to pay over the odds, but the fact is they will. Obviously that doesn't mean it's ok for loads of tickets to pop up on ebay for at least 10 times their value, but you can't really ignore the fact that some mug out there is willing to pay that amount if they feel they absolutely have to go to a particular gig.

I will be there on Monday seeing my mate's band play though which should be fun
A positive attitude! Good to see! Yeah, I'm sure they will be back up there again as some point! Remember kids, don't feed the touts!

I don't particularly agree with touting, and I think I used up every expletive known to man when I saw those ones come up on ebay ten minutes after going onsale, but why 'mug'? For TCT week the Noel Gallagher tickets were only available by auction and the max bid was £100 over the current one. It was at £80 and, because the website implied you'd only be charged to the lowest bid, I just bid the full £180. Of course after the gig it transpired that you paid your bid no matter what it was, so I ended up paying the £180 purely out of misunderstanding. It wasn't to a tout, but I happily paid the money and if I had the money spare again I'd pay double that to see Noel. It was the best gig of my life. Just my alternative opinion. It's an immoral trade, but not illegal and if you can go why not go?

have to say gettting my fulham ticket was much easier, and it went on sale at 9am! - only cost £9.

I've been threatened a couple of times by touts. There's a few who are nice enough people, albeit in a dodgy trade, but some are total scum.

The one who was issuing death threats ended up racially abusing a very large black traffic PCSO who then sat on him til the PCs arrived and hauled him away. This was at about 6pm and he lost all of the tickets he had for touting that night - a sold out Paramore gig in Manchester. He would have lost a fortune.

No offence, but doesn't that imply you were a bit of a mug?

For me, it's not really just the price; it's the fact you're giving a ridiculous amount of profit to some nobody who doesn't deserve it. That's where the mug bit comes in to it for me. I have no idea what TCT week was or if the auction you mention was done via an official website, but if so, at least the money is going where it should. It's the third party element of touting that I don't agree with. It's bad enough getting ripped off by the likes of See and Ticketmaster with transaction fees and whatnot, I'm not paying anymore to someone else, who's main motivation in life is selfish greed. But, people will do what they will and it's not up to me to tell anyone else what they should do with their money; I just know I'd rather miss out than line the pockets of the touts.

I can't stand the way Ticketmaster's site works.

The horrible queueing system
The way gigs are shown as "on sale" when there's not a single ticket to be had

At least with SeeTickets if you see an order button it means you WILL get a ticket if you're quick. Alright it goes on its arse every Glasto year but at least that's understandable. And I don't think they farm tickets out to touts either

Ah, right. I thought it was to stop old people with fuzzy eyesight from going to gigs.
