I'm going to wait for it legit, but I'm loving reading all these reactions from those of you who have heard it all.

The good news is as much as I liked the Bsides Caldey and TSOD, neither are even close to being good enough to find a spot on the album, that's how strong it is.

First listen. At the very least, it'd have to be in the top half of Manics albums, and on further listens possibly even higher. It's just a real joy to listen to for me, and one of those less common albums where it starts off consistently good and then gets better as the album goes on. In addition, also the feeling that there's still much to take in on further listens.

Best record-buying-experience ever:

I just went to get the (physical copy of the) album at a shop down the road; it's one of those huge consumer electronics chain stores that also have CDs, but where you don't really expect the staff to be into music - in general, and certainly not into less mainstream genres. But it's the closest one, so I went there, and the minute I got in I realized they were actually playing the album in the shop (high volume as well...)! I couldn't find it at first, though, so I thought I'd ask one of the two guys working in the CD section. Actually I wanted to ask the younger one because he looked more like he'd know about it, but he was busy, so I asked the older guy who was restocking the shelves and who didn't look like he'd know the difference between Manics and Vengaboys or something. But I couldn't even finish my sentence ("Excuse me, I'm looking for the new Manic Street Preachers album, you should have it because it's playing right now") because he started telling me - in a very enthusiastic manner - what a fantastic album it is! I told him I'd been listening to it on Spotify all night, and he just laughed and said: "Me too!" We ended up having a nice little chat about the Manics - agreeing that this new one was the best since KYE, that there'd been ups and downs but basically everything from Lifeblood to PFAYM had been a bit of a disappointment, and so on -, and then he went to get me the album, as they hadn't started unpacking the new releases yet. He actually apologized because he "only" had the limited edition, haha!

I think I'm in love.
