Just finished my first listen through and....seriously...what the hell???

I honestly never expected it to be this good. I just can't find a weak link!

Ok...the verse of SPLAM reminds me a bit of Slang by Def Leppard (seriously) but mein gott it works.

Actually...I have thought of a weak link. The cover. I really hate the piss poor photoshop effort. No idea if it's supposed to be deliberate or what but it's easily the worst manics cover ever.

And now onwards onto the demos and bonus tracks.

I really think two tracks could be replaced and those are Divine Youth and SPLAM with Last Time I Saw Paris and Empty Motorcade.

Having said that I have not found a poor track with the entire Futurology era so far (well maybe the EGDM Remixes).

I reckon the covers deliberate mate - the photographer does some weird stuff!
I just want to know definitively what she's holding!

Aww hell yeah, it's downright colossal. The proper ending to the album IMHO. That chorus is just such a magnificent coda, pulls everything together. For the album, for the manics. "We were books, yet we were sold" is extremely funny and apt and, well, just true.

God, this album has got me riled the fuck up right now...

Does anyone else think the album should continue with the deluxe edition songs? I mean, Empty Motorcade is FUCKING COLOSSAL, and it just flows so well, aftet BListered Mirror. After Mayakovski it's like, who gives a fuck, let this thing last for 70 songs as they threatened.
The musicianship and production is outstanding - the melodies, the words, make a cerebral forest of hope and doubt.

Hearing LGTW and the title track in isolation made me yearn for the guitars to be turned up in the mix, but now listening to the album as a complete work it's just perfect. Take a bow lads.

Every time I hear that line "I was the boy who sang / I can still fill your void" I get goosebumps. And I love how James spits out the "resources - divorces - forces - endorsements" in Black Square!

Here's how to remember the Green Cross Code.

First find a Safe place to cross then Stop.

Stand on the Pavement near the kerb.

Look all round for traffic. Listen.

Avoid running into the road and getting hit by A vehicle.

Make sure you listen to the Manic Street Preachers once you have safely crossed.

Well now, we'll all remember the Green Cross Code. And use it.

SPLAM!
