69 Love Songs, as a concept, is great. The first disc is fantastic (with the exception of Punk Love) but the second and third aren't to the same standard.
I've always thought of Know Your Enemy as their Sandinista! I've got a lot of time for it, much more than SATT and PFAYM where they're treading the same EMG territory. I just hope they do something different with the next album which I think is what they tried to do with KYE. A double album yes, a triple just wouldn't work with 70 songs. That's too much for any band. |

their next album will be a sprawling mess, another KYE. it'll need to after the user-friedly sound of this one

A "70 songs record" would be the perfect closer for their career. It's highly ambitious.. But that's just my opinion. Really hoping, they're going to do it ...for real!

I think Nicky mentioned it as an idea around the time of Lifeblood... I could be wrong/mis-remembering but I think Cardiff Afterlife was one of the titles he thought up for such an album, as well as Stockholm Alone, (I was never sure if that was a joke or not!).

I suppose we're also still waiting for the Nebraksa album. Wintery acoustic songs recorded in a kitchen on a four-track. |
