Yeah that's the main difference. The New Smashing Pumpkins are shite. The New Wedding Present are good. I saw them a few years ago doing George Best and it was awesome.

I've just had a Facebook message from the Manic site saying about the album, it mentions a new single to conicide with it in October

I hope the new single isn't a bag of sick. I do however hope it's called Bag Of Sick.

It mentions the 3 format thingy again, I suppose this is the only hope of getting any near the top 40. Strictly come dancing starts in October so hopefully a guest appearance on there again!

Stop press! All 38 singles going on it!

To celebrate the 21st anniversary of their first single release, MANIC STREET PREACHERS are releasing the ultimate singles collection in October. ‘NATIONAL TREASURES – THE COMPLETE SINGLES’ gathers 38 songs from the band’s rich history, starting with initial Heavenly Records release ‘Motown Junk’ (1990) to tracks taken from last year’s ‘Postcards From A Young Man’ album – the bands tenth which was greeted with universal critical acclaim. The album also features a brand new single and will be released in several formats, details to follow
.

There's still a whole lot of fail in that new press release...

http://www.nme.com/news/manic-street-preachers/58269 the NME article.

“The album will be released in several formats.”

I guess that means it won’t be released as a multiple CD boxset. They wouldn’t released loads of vinyls for the other format I don't think! So overall I think it's just a better Forever Delayed with just having all the singles rather than the awful FD tracklisting.

Hope we get a DVD too of all the videos, so we get the newer ones all on DVD at good quality.

I can see this having a 3CD version too - with an extra CD of Bsides, remixes, live stuff for the hardcore at about £15 and the standard for the masses at a tenner. I'd imagine the DVD will be a separate thing. Best get saving those pennies.

Does this mean the original "FD" will be retired? Will unsold copies by pulped like Alan Partridge's "Bouncing Back"?

I'm guessing by 38 tracks there will be no Umbrella, PCP or Repeat then, and only the one version of You Love Us.

...What about Suicide Alley? UK Channel Boredom? Feminine is Beautiful? God Save The Manics? It should have been a great moment to treasure these from collectors item obscurity. Maybe one of the formats might contain some of these.

They weren't major (small 'm') releases.
