The Live Version is much worse..
As a contrast to 'The Live version is Better' thread, what songs are you really disappointed by when played live?
Personally i was disappointed by Faster recently, I think it should be a lot angrier and quicker, but hey, thats just me. Also, Masses Against the Classes, though primarily down to keyboard reasons. |

Also, listened to a live version of The Second Great Depression earlier and thought it sounded quite poor. |

The Everlasting because live I have to sit through it, whereas on CD I can just skip the thing. Apart from that I can't think of anything I dislike live as I'm always on a bit of a hyper adrenaline-trip...

I'm trying to think if I've heard The Everlasting live or not. I think they did it at Nottingham in 2002 but I forget, I'll have to track down the setlist for that one again. I'd like to hear it if I haven't, don't have a problem with hearing slower records. Gives you a bit of a breather from all that bouncing around!

Tolerate - just doesn't work live. It's played too fast and it's not supposed to be a heavy rock song for fucksake. I don't know why James insists on playing heavy power chords during the 'aah ahh...' the outro.
Faster is usually excellent live far better than on record but when they did it at the Roundhouse they played it really slow! I loved it acoustic on the FD tour but the speed they played it on electric at the Roundhouse took the piss! La Tristesse Durera - Doesn't and has never sounded right live. Tsunami i can give or take. It's sometimes nice in it's rockier guise but i do like the slowed down studio version. Er...i think that is it? Everything else sounds good live, even the shit songs. |

I like the rockier version of Tolerate as well as the album version!

i do like the end solo of Tolerate live, but yeah it is way too fast. It's much better when you watch the Jools Holland performance of it, back when it was first released.
Yeah, Faster seemed really slow at Wolves, and the keyboards in the chorus are REALLY annoying |

Faster didn't seem slow to me at Wolves. I dunno, maybe it was just the adrenaline rushing through me at the time!

Pretty much every song they perform live nowadays apart from Motorcycle Emptiness. Then again I register my opinion of the Manics nowadays as a redundant live band so eh.
This is really just because I hate what they did to Jackie Collins live (what the fuck James, sort out your guitar tone man) and Tolerate's always been a pile of arse live, and happens to be be my favourite Manics single. That and the ever unchanging set lists. I'm glad I was at Liverpool when I was 15 seeing them play 4st 7lbs for that reason That was a great tour.
