When you think about it: PFAYM = KYE
Now I'm a bit partial to some KYE. Obviously it doesnt stand up to the fanboy eras but it wa the height of my Manics obsession and I can see past the shitness on the album to really appreciate it.
After listening to the tracks of the new album on these radio shows, they sound even more to me like KYE. But before you shout "Get out of this forum!" lets set this up: 1. PFAYM has come after two major successes - KYE came after two major successes 2. PFAYM is a direct response to the JFPL - KYE was direct response to TIMT 3. The Manics were at the egotistical peak after TIMT - I still think their egos are up there now after the return to glory. 4. Its not War = Found That Soul SKON = So Why So Sad Auto-Intox / Billion Balconines (sonically) = Epicentre / His Last Painting / My Guernica / Baby Elian Postcards = Ocean Spray ILYFS = Pedestal 5. Both have shit singing by Nicky 6. Both have Sean playing trumpet. 7. Both had shitty launch promo despite the expectations. 8. Both are too long. I'm sure there are more similarities. |

Did it take long to think that up?

From the man who brought you 'Pointless arguing' and 'More pointless arguing and slagging off' comes 'Slagging off and comparisons'.
Should be good. And no, no it isn't like KYE, Truth was a massive success that appealed to a mainstream and so they wanted to go punk, JFPL was not so big a success and here the Manics are going pop. PFAYM is not that long, KYE is, both are good though.

Do you need your own sub-forum for slagging it off?

Coming next week: Proevpete asks whether the production on Behave Yourself Baby is a little bit shit and explains why Autumnsong was The Intense Humming Of Evil Part II.

Obviously people dont read my posts but Ive said already that I'm coming round to the album.
I think the songs are very similar to KYE structurally and sonically. Obviously rawness vs. big production aside, the essence of it is very much the same. |

But given KYE is my favourite album at the moment... you haven't really put me off getting the new one?
So thanks! looking forward to hearing the new KYE! |

And they're not really noticeably the same, they have verses and choruses and bridges and whatnot, it's hardly a trademark Manics structure.

for me the best part about the build up to this album has been watching / reading proevpete wrestling with it so badly. his range of reaction to it has been each and every one of the seven fucking dwarfs, i am not sure i will be able to play the album with a straight face when it land.

99% of the songs they've written are structurally similar, if not identical. Like I said in another thread recently, you can't moan at them into changing at this stage. Not through this forum anyway. I spent three years trying.

Hahaha brilliant Franny. Oh deary me, some of the topics on here in the build up to the album (or post if you're downloaded leaks) are mental. Is it really like KYE? I'm betting anything that it's not. And It's Not War = Found That Soul? Hmmmm
