Strings too high in the mix and they remind me of a daytime TV show theme tune. I'm not disappointed by it too much, though thought it could have been a little heavier. I want Aerosmith, dammit!

it's excellent - some of the guitar sounds a "bit" like Metallica's cover of Whisky In The Jar towards the end. looking forward to getting the single & album

Like it. Not bad for an album opener and makes me wonder what the rest of the album will be like?
If you don't like it on first listen, then don't force yourself! It'll happen...

It's great....the song is catchy and you can hear the lyrics in the opening music, so to speak. I wish it was a bit longer and james was higher in the mix, but it's like a single should be. It is more like 80s stuff/queen/james but that's a good thing.

Beautiful, elegant strings - very very uplifting. Hopefully the sort of the thing the public will like. It's definitely more of a classic Radio 2 single than something you'll ever hear on Radio 1 these days. Nothing wrong with that of course, all the shit on Radio 1 these days is dire. Takes a lot of influence from Badfinger (Wish You Were Here era - no I'm not getting confused with Pink Floyd thankfully) and some Motown stuff, not to mention George Harrison's classic What Is Life from All Things Must Pass. Not as Queen sounding as I expected but certainly not disappointed. As something you might hear on the radio, it stands up with all the other big singles, more so actually, perhaps with the exception of ADFL which is the best Manics single hands down.

nice song to wake up too! Very catchy chorus.

Do you think Wire was listening to shania twain when writing the line "You've got the looks...." was almost expecting "but have you got the touch?"!!
