bands who bring in mucho $$$$$$ for the British Industry get awards. if you are Robbie Williams or Oasis and allow your fans around the world to see & buy your stuff, you are likely to get one. if you are signed to Sony, and thus do all you can to limit your audience to the UK, you don't get awards.

surely the Manics have already got or would soon be due to get an NME "Godlike Genius" award? if they were at all bothered about awards, i suspect they would favour this over a Brit anyway.

They've already got a Godlike Genius award....they got it in 2008. I just don't see the point in awards anyway. It's all a fix.

Agrees, probably because they did'nt sell enough records in the last 20 years to keep the record labels happy,although Geldoff got one for a few sales in 79/81
