A Miracle...PFAYM Makes NME TOP 50 Albums!!!
Only number 44 but surprised me considering the rest of their albums of the year are made up of pretentious student tosh

Not only that, 'it's not war' is #45 on the best singles list (:
I wasn't surprised at all - they may have a lot of 'pretentious student tosh' as you put it (which is actually quite a good phrase to describe it!) but they're also majorly obsessed with the manics. I knew for a fact it'd be on there. |

Well done Manics! And well done Postcards! Much deserved!

I'm not surprised, to be honest, there could b an album made up of James farting and NME would have a wankfest over it.
still, more promotion, isn't it? pretentious student types are likely to be influenced by that and buy the album because NME says so. |

Or just listen on Spotify or download it.

True. Or, I'm sure there's stuff on youtube.
Although the manics can hope that some of them are still hard copy geeks. I can hardly talk, even I don't own the album. I even bought SATT no matter how much I disliked it. |

They get more or less across the board praise from the rags for the first time in a while and the fans are still moaning about a fantastic album. Makes me laugh!

Really great news. Perhaps some of the moaners on hear might be tempted to change their mind now about Postcards. All the press has been really positive and with this and Q it shows long term support for the album

I'm actually surprised by the reaction on here to Postcards - I really enjoyed it, but many others seem to disagree. |

Seems some people just like to be 'different' or 'cool' or whatever! maybe they think being overly critical is a way to get them noticed?!
I think it is a great album. Golden Platitudes is a wonderful song, SKON is heartfelt and the use of the choir lends it a classic sounding quality. A billion balconies just plain rocks! I genuinely think that in years to come I will still be playing this and it is on a par with EMG. Nicky Wire is NOT Richey Edwards, but writes songs just as beautifully. He gave us Design for life, Tolerate and now continues to write outstanding songs. All the negative people really should just move on and find a new band to love. It is NOT 1994, get over it, move on. Enjoy this great band for as long as we have them ![]() Last edited by beautifuldistortion; 02-12-2010 at 09:44. |

Your words are true, the Manics can't release a new Holy Bible every year. Bands change and their music change, I'm actually quite pleased about this. The Manics keep trying new things and sometimes it may not work but at least they aren't saying - "Your Love Alone did pretty well, let's do another song like that"

Newsflash guys - those of us who don't like PFAYM don't want/expect another Holy Bible, we just want something good. Some low end of year placings in magazines ain't gonna change my opinion of it either.
