Before FD started, was there any old forums around?

The official one was the only one I knew about and bothered about but I only posted on there every now and then, I jsutused to read stuff more than anything, same as here until I dcided to actually sign up one day. Didn't the official site forum close for spam reasons or something and they never bothered putting a new one up? Shame.

Yes....Official Forum, Stay Beautiful, Archives of Pain to name a few. There was a rawkstar manics site as well, and lots of fansites, most of which have died or aren't updated anymore.

The main one I used to use around 1999/2001 before FD.com came about was manicsonline

My dad had an Archives of Pain forum account, but the only one I know of is this one to be honest.

The official forum was great when I used to go on there 1999/2000 and thereabouts. Met my girlfriend of almost 10 years through it!

These forums are still posted to in 2010 as well, though I'm not sure when they started: http://s11.invisionfree.com/Sparkle_and_Believe/
and: http://justjamesforum.com/index.php
Others with varying degrees of (in)activity are listed here under 'FORUMS + GROUPS', plus old archived sites under 'ARCHIVED FAN + INFO SITES', if that helps: http://visionblurred.moonfruit.com/#...nks/4535294534

I was a member just before it closed. It was a weird place. Very cliquey and not much Manics related discussion took place. Instead threats were made to various members and then a whole bunch of admin mods appeared to regulate the place. It was then closed.

I still remember my last post on the official forum.

"Are the band mental? they are paying for people to talk this shit"

Shortly after it closed.

Is From Despair To Here still around?

I was on there briefly, but frankly they were just a load of tossers.

Back in 00/01 the official forum was a fairly buzzing little place and was actually littered with a lot of the same nonsense, shenanigans, shits and giggles that you get on here. I've got a copy of a 'forum cartoon' representing the brunt of us that one of the members (Justagirl) sketched back in the day. I guess it's quite a cool little piece of online Manics fans history, in a way. Anyone wanna explain to me how the fuck I post it up on here?!

I did join that one but there no longer appeared to be a forum!
