What is your most memorable/favourite moment as a Manics fan?
I was just thinking about this the other day...
For me it was sitting in a waffle place off Las Ramblas in Barcelona in Spring 2004 on a Tuesday afternoon at about 2pm. I'd completely lost interest in the Manics around then. The waffle place was dead but at least they had the radio on. I went to the bog and coming back I could hear these jangling chords and it sounding really familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. And then the chorus kicked in "duh-nin dun duh-nin / Forever-ever delayed". It was just a great random Manics moment! (And meeting them doesn't count!! Unless it was Sean in Ann Summers pointing his gun out through a peep hole) |

other than their recording of Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You as our "first dance" song at our wedding, it must be the time we headed to England in Dec 2002 for the Forever Delayed tour.
down here if you are lucky you meet someone who has a passing recognition of the band. to be able to fly over, get on a train with a bunch of Manics fans and be surrounded by Manics fans for the whole night, people who "got" what we got from the band, was unforgettable.

Dancing to Motorcycle Emptiness with about 10 other fans at that charity clubnight a while back was pretty awesome. Plus every gig but especially the Forum in 09.

Seeing them live of course, and maybe winning tickets to the iTunes festival only a few days before the gig...the best surprise ever! I'll always remember the first time I saw Tolerate on TV and wrote the name of the song down to download it later, as that was what started my obsession.

Still have the moment I first saw Tolerate ingrained in to my brain! But there have been loads of great moments!

I've made friends and met some nice people through being a manics fan, which is quite good! It feels weird to think that if I hadn't bought a copy of NME on a whim three years ago and read about the manics winning the Godlike Genius award, I would never have met one of my best friends.
Winning tickets to HRC was great - I'm really unlucky and I never win anything so I was pleased that the thing I did win was manics related because it made it all the more special. Edit: Oh yeah, and my mum bursting into tears because she thought I was dead will always be the most memorable thing about my first ever manics gig! She decided that because we'd got separated, I must have been trampled on and killed by the crowd... She's such a terrible gig buddy but she's the only person who will come with me to see the manics because my friends don't like them, and to be fair, it's fun to tease her about it.

I would agree with this, seeing out one century and seeing in the new century with some amazing friends at an amazing Manics gig. Plus it was my first Manics gig which, made it all the more special.

Hearing Motorcycle Emptiness for the first time was pretty fantastic; I remember it stuck in my head for days afterwards and it was what persuaded me to buy Forever Delayed which started my obsession. Watching the Blackwood gig on the internet was great as well! And seeing Nicky on Something For the Weekend - that was so surreal. Also, being part of the Manics fan community on Tumblr - I've met some amazing people thanks to being part of that.
Seeing them live for the first time has to be my favourite one though

Most of my great Manics moments have been here on FD! The Blackstar thread, etc...seeing them in Boston was probably the obvious highlight, though.
