Favourite Manic Song Goosebumps?
I was listening to Be Natural earlier and when James launches into the second verse, the hairs stood up on the back of my neck and I had a lovely warm feeling. It was momentary but awesome.
What manics songs and bits give you that same feeling? The bit specificly was Starbright keep me safe, today and tonight No water tastes like lemonade Slowly slowly it starts to fade

There are a few moments in No Surface All Feeling that do it for me: the Today-esque intro bit; when it all bursts in after that; and then the final 'feel the guilt of a sinner/feel the cold of a winter' bit. Magical.

Great idea for a thread!
I agree with the OP about that bit in Be Natural, always gets me! Also the second verse of Tsunami, especially the "cry into my drink I dissappear" line.and the "sleep and breath under our sheets, and hold the anxiety in between" bit too. Really touches a nerve and i come over all paculier. The "ambulence st the bottom of a cliff" line in Yes always sends a shiver down my spine aswell. |

The opening of If You Tolerate This, when you're not expecting it, like on shuffle. The world just stops.

The new song gave me goosebumps tonight, also when you hear live recordings like faster or design for life at the O2 and you hear the crowd sing along.

"There's nothing I want to see, there's nowhere I want to go."
Every. Fucking. Time. Just send shivers up my spine, no idea why! I also get goosebumps during "Be Natural" when James sings "Floating around up here on my own" and, of course, when "Nobody Loved You" hits that glorious crescendo of "Nobody loved you like MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

Depending on where my mind is and which song came before, I get struck by so many bits in so many songs.
For example, I can get hit by the bit in Comfort Comes when he says "A crutch for emnity's saddest glare". Also when I was young, Motorcycle Emptiness' strings part containing "all we want from you are the kicks you've given us", but that is a too obvious one. As Mr Richey says, the very ending of Condemned to Rock and Roll does it for me too. Btw., although I like Nicky's singing as well as James', I must admit James' cutey voicey usually strikes me straight in my heart after a Nicky's vocal song. However, Death of a Digital Ghost made me cry for real once, because I was in a bad mood and I felt like the song was directed to me, as if someone tries to comfort me...

Rewind the film is having this effect on me at the moment. The lyrics are poignant to me and it's just such a beautiful song, especially when James starts singing. That is a guaranteed goosebump moment!

The start of the Heavenly version of 'Spectators of Suicide' makes me horripilate. I listened to it five times in a row yesterday when I was stuck in traffic.
Be Natural is a good one, I agree, I love that. 'To wear the scars, to show from where I came' from ADFL makes my voice go when I'm singing along. Welcome to the Dead Zone is a good one for goosebumps too.

The beautiful 'Everlasting nothingness' bit at the end of ME. Always gets me.

The chorus to the everlasting always gets me aswell, especially the first one after the "pathetic acts for a worthless cause bit"
And when James comes in on Rewind the film. First time I heard that was really migical. Last edited by Suicide Aldi; 12-04-2014 at 10:40. Reason: Spelling |
