Manics moments that make your cringe

First to mind, the solo for It's not war. It does unpleasant things to me to hear a guitar so violated...

Note.... Bloody auto correct....

I really hate the childrens choir on "3 Ways To See Depair" demo. It's too on the nose even for the Manics.

I'll edit this later on to add more more examples, so here we go:

EDIT (please be aware some of these are extremely superficial and petty):
'...even though it has been chewed...' (Royal Correspondent - although I love the rest of the song)
All of Miss Europa Disco Dancer.
'One last shot at mass communication.'
Their single choices and, more importantly, the tracks that are relegated to b-sides. It's as if they can't help themselves.
Their love of the reversed 'r' which demonstrates a wilful illiteracy of the Cyrillic alphabet (Manic Styaeet Pyaeacheryas) - admittedly very superficial, but I do find it cringeworthy if I think about it too much (which I try not to do).
Their mysterious dislike of Lifeblood, apparently because it was in their eyes commercially unsuccessful (see also their disowning of GATS and KYE).
Nicky's editing of the JFPL lyrics which considerably dumbed parts of them down.
Nicky pretending no one liked IKTZ.
Most of their cover songs (with a significant number of honourable exceptions of course), banged out as filler to meet b-side requirements.
Their persistent liner note spelling and punctuation mistakes in English and pronunciation mistakes in German (admittedly the latter were endearing in the 1990s).
The front cover of TIMTTMY and the typeface used on PFAYM.
Underdogs (though the thought was there, I suppose).
Most of PFAYM, musically speaking.
The opening ten seconds of Death Of A Digital Ghost.

...and, breathe.

In my defence I'd like to plead that most of the above is really just things that have had me rolling my eyes over the years - and what they do oh so right far outweighs anything written here.

Let Robeson Sing as a single choice

The awful merchandise

Oddly quite naive politics at times

Vinyl/Japan/download exclusive tracks

Songs like YSTDFMH live (and lack of lifeblood/JFPL)

It's not War in its entirety. From the very first note. I don't get the guitar sound. Or the strings. Or the lyric. Or their love of it. Or anything.

The Postcards era, the karaoke Autumnsong video, some of their early interviews with Richey when they were in their uber pretentious phase, some of Nicky's jibes at other musicians, when James said people only say they like Lifeblood to piss him off, Sean's brief time on FD and the band's general misinformed/outdated view of this forum over the years, Nicky's alleged hatred of the internet (I guess he got over that what with all the Twitter selfies), some of their setlist choices and reluctance to play much of the album they're meant to be promoting...and that's just for starters

I feel I must add I still love them in spite of all this though...I honestly feel like I'm in a marriage with this band so you have to take the rough with the smooth

1. They ignore Lifeblood
2. Not filming gigs that should have been - national treasures gig at 02/ Swansea liberty stadium
3. Not wanting to be a living museum yet we have several reissues including 2 for the same albums

a few more but all nit picks to be fair they are still my favourite band and don't make me cringe as much as some of my other favourite bands

Pretty much everything they've done after Lifeblood, save for some songs from JFPL and Rewind the Film.

1: Utter over-reliance of playing hits
2: Promising Springsteen-Esque set-lists and then proceeding to play 3 surprises over 3-4 gigs
3: James voice is past its best by a long shot and I don't hold up much hope for the future tours.

Cuba burn linked directly to KYE, which would of still been critically attacked or cooled on.
Maybe that's them not having the courage for the two albums.
KYE more overlooked than Lifeblood!
