I do it with acetate's paper (plastic paper, it's good if you want to do more t-shirts at the future) special for printer, I cut the black parts (eyes, nose's holes, hair etc) and then I used it as a template  I put the picture on the t-shirt (fixed with cellophane) and I protected the rest of the t-shirt with paper (by this way I didn't paint ALL the t-shirt in black)...It's important to use plastic gloves (if you don't want to paint your hands).I hope that it can helps you!

Here are the two first shirts. Made them yesterday.
For the blue one, I used a sort of gel pen. This was really shit ! You have to shake it hard to get something out of it and when it does the paint comes out bubbly. It's hard not to make a complete mess.  The quotation is from misheard lyrics of Peeled Apples.For the orange one, it's simply a black textile pen. The quotation is from JFPL again, This Joke Sport Severed.

They were intense spray paint affairs, had some much fun making them
