epic show, amazing. (i was the awkward chap w/ the red tank top and elven bangs.) it was funny - it didn't set in til i was staring at nicky's mic that this was actually happening and it was like i was in shock. got a bit watery-eyed during 'this is yesterday' and one of my contacts threatened to jump out. would've liked to have heard TJSS (maybe in lieu of robeson?) but otherwise, an amazing first manics show. and enola! aarejk;ajsdj;sj. great. met them all afterward - the highlight of which was telling mooro he needed to do more backing vocals a la 'lifeblood'!

brilliant show. yes the guys from no manifesto were there too (hello!) and theyll be at the NYC show tomorrow also.
amazing night, also my first show - took some pictures with the guys after the show - chatted a bit more with sean, he remembered the gig in Greece ( i wasnt there -- he has a sensational memory) the band seemed extremely happy with the crowd - especially nicky. asked james if they will come back, and yes, HE SAID YES< they are loving it. "if we didnt come now we'd never come back again" and it seems they will come back for more, bigger shows in a couple years, perhaps. faster was monstrous, many singalongs, i was in the air for most of the gig, sat in front of nicky with two friends. truly special night. and i took pictures with all three of them! - will upload some tomorrow. also full videos of the two acoustic tunes, and la tristesse durera.... i think thats about it for now. spectacular gig, simply. wow. off to try to realize what just happened tonight. still cant believe it really. NYC in about 18 hours!!!!!!

I got late into the set, around "If you tolerate..." but it was my first Manic's show and absolutely wonderful. I'll admit that I started crying during "this is yesterday," it's got a lot of meaning to me and his voice is like a trampled angel.
Stayed around after and met Nicky and James, got my shirt signed, really nice chaps, Nicky liked my dyi plath t-shirt. I hope everyone has a great time at NYC! |

That show was beyond words. The band was in top form and seemed to be having a lot of fun. Everyone up front was singing every lyric and Nicky said it was the best sing along to Faster on this tour. The venue was as intimate as it gets and the crowd was amazing. New York will be good but it's going to be hard to top Philly. I was with ForeverDelayed.com after show and took a pic with James (we're the same height!) and Nicky (fuck me, he's tall!). The band was extremely nice to everyone after the show and made sure that all the fans had a moment with them whether it be to carry on a quick conversation, take a photo, or sign an item. I never expected to see MSP ever much less meet them. I can honestly say that it was the greatest gig I've ever been to.

I have never had more fun.
Got there around 3. I walked in and went to the hostess to ask where queuing was taking place when James walks in behind me. I froze, feeling entirely too obvious in my leopard print, white jeans, and tiara. He just walked past into the cafe looking rather confused, then walked out. Oh James. I queued with Richeysite and two lovely people from South Carolina and a girl from Canada. What troopers. Had a lot of fun sitting around. We saw Sean come out from the stage to use the bathroom, haha. Elizabeth from WibblyWobbly came and shot some footage of us. I love hanging with Manics fans. I had to move my car at 5:30 so I brought my boa back into the venue Then they let us in and we made a mad dash to stage right. I ended up right where I hoped I'd be, equidistant between Nicky and James. I saw a couple FDers around -- saw Harrijack in the queue (your jacket was beautiful!), and I think GoldAgainstTheSoul was behind me. Bear Hands was alright. They seemed kind of like they did not want to be there at all. Did not like the singer, but the other guys were okay. But then they left and the boa came out and I got soooo excited. I couldn't stop bouncing. Then the boys came out. It was like a dream. Never in a million years did I think I would ever actually see them. I was expecting my first concert to run me a couple thousand dollars due to plane tickets and hotel stays. But there they were, feet away from me. The show was mega, as Nicky would say. (When we were getting things signed Nicky said that, and a fan asked him if that was a Welsh word for something. Hee.) I screamed, I jumped, I did that pointy thing I have always made fun of people for doing, but it felt good. Everything was perfect, really. I recorded the acoustic songs, I'll upload them later, and I got the first half of Motown Junk until I decided that I'd rather be dancing and screaming. I did get pictures: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...7&l=567cac4200 I can't even put into words how much fun it was. My goodness. After the show, I ran out to the buses, and I was one of the first people there. Sean came out! I got him to sign my 10th anniversary THB (it was the first album of theirs that I bought). I listened to him talk, in complete awe, when James and Nicky came out. Sean slipped away into the bus, so I went over to James, and listened to him talk some more too. I got a picture with him, but I forgot to get him to sign THB cause I was so starstruck. Then we went to Nicky, he was hilarious, god I love this band. Best night ever. No question. I wish I could be going to New York tonight but responsibility sucks. Have fun, everyone!!!

forgot to mention - i said 'come back soon' to james and he specifically said 'in two years - for the next album'. also talked to one of the 'no manifesto' crew and she said ideally the film would be out in about three months and there were a few external issues to work out before its release.

Short time lurker, first time poster. This was about 11-12 years in the making for me so I'm glad I made the trip up from Virginia. Absolutely incredible show in the perfect sized venue, gotta love it when you can walk up and get a spot just to the side of James about 3-4 heads back from the stage literally 10 minutes before they come on. Post-show autographs and pictures with the band were nailed as well, it was funny because I had read a few earlier accounts of Sean hoofing it to the bus pretty quickly post-show so when I saw him outside by the bus talking to a few fans I made a beeline over there to get my LP signed before he made himself scarce HAHA James and Nicky were cordial as well, definitely a blast to have a moment with one of the greatest frontmen of all time and to thank him for returning to the states.
A few pics: Pre-show pic from upstairs: Amusing sign in the alleyway outside of the club No flash arty James HAHA Airborne James with backdrop Captain Nicky |
