It looks like their appearance on the X Factor will be pre-recorded. They are asking people who have tickets to the Monday night show if they want to be in the 'moshpit' for the manics on Monday afternoon. A friend has sorted me out with a ticket - If anyone else wants to go and can be in Henderson on Monday afternoon PM me and I'll give you the details of who to contact to see if you can get in too. It would be nice to have a few proper fans there rather than a bunch of teenagers who have no actual idea who they're watching.

How I would love to be there, but my flight doesn't get into Auckland till 5pm Monday. Bugger!

Bring copies of THB and pass them out, see how many kids' heads you can make explode.

They've put the details of the X Factor session on their Facebook page (the X Factor that is, not the Manics):

"BE IN THE MOSH PIT FOR MANIC STREET PREACHERS!

Date: Monday 1st July, 2013
Where: Auckland Film Studios, 40 Henderson Valley Road, Henderson
Time: 1pm - 3:00pm
Age: 16+

Because I'm bored, a gig review for Melbourne, half an hour before the support act start:
  • Holy crap, Festival Hall is a shithole. A capacious shithole, though. It looks good for a boxing match, dunno about a rock'n'roll show.
  • Merch looks promising - there's a black T-shirt with the band name in the GT font over a red star, a white one with what looks like a reshoot of the Suicide Alley sleeve photo, and a red rugby top with the English, Welsh, Scottish, and Irish (tricolour) flags where the Lions logo would go on an actual guernsey. The black and the red have tour dates on the back. Also stubby holders with the band name and the four flags logo, and dog tags (?!) .
  • Best dressed award so far goes to the woman next to me who stencilled "We love the rugby, it brings us closer together" in the THB font on the back. It's nice to see that union had a use after all...
  • So many red Lions rugby shirts around, I'm a have to wear an AFL or ice hockey guernsey to the Sydney gig just so we get some variety.
