It doesn't strike me as a strong way to start the album, which is rare for the band. It's no 1985, Send Away The Tigers, Peeled Apples, nor even (whisper it) It's Not War as a statement of intent...

...I was wondering when the vocals would kick in, then I scrolled down and saw that the song is 'Manorbier'. Very unusual-sounding. Unsettling and pretty at the same time. I like it!

EDIT: And a bit of 'aaaah'ing near the end, so not completely instrumental.

Loved Manorbier, loving this album... and still the tracks I'm most eager to hear yet to be played!

Interesting point of contention... a voice can still be an instrument... I would still call it an instrumental in the absence of any real words.

Certainly, I guess my grasp of 'instrumental' was the absence of vocals, but yes, the absence of words makes more sense.

Well, I'm not being all Phoenix Wright and saying 'OBJECTION! You are clearly wrong because...', I can see the argument that one could call it not completely an instrumental too because of some vocal presence, it's just different interpretations of what the term means.

I've enjoyed the songs I've heard but a leak would have been a far preferable way of listening rather than through samples and dribs and drabs on the radio

Oh no, I'd just never really thought about it before, I suppose I think your interpretation is better. Sounds as opposed to words.

Having now heard 3 tracks from the album (total). I'm struggling to see the single fitting on it at all.

Which is a good thing.

Yes, SMTW is not a very good indication of how good the entire album is. The single does not fit on it and it causes a jarring effect. I will take SMTW out of the tracklisting and replace with SILS.

Can't wait to get home and listen to these songs finally!!! Hopefully they'll mop up the rest of the tracks when James and Nicky are on within the next hour.

What's everyone's favourite so far?
