I have terrrible tinnitus probably due to going to too many gigs. I have had to reduced the amount of gigs I go to. I find it very difficult to hear people talk in large groups or when there is other background noise. I was sent to a tinnitus specialist who trained me to control my breathing so I can relax and forget about the nasty buzzing. Karen what ear plugs do you buy from boots?

I was considering going to this gig but to fly over from Ireland in December is too risky from a financial point of view with our snowfalls of the last two winters. Another issue was finding someone to go over with. Saw them earlier this year anyway. Just hope they aren't going to disappear for too long as Nicky Wire has been quoted as saying

I've only started to wear ear plugs recently - only one time so far, but that was specifically due to it being at a show with punk bands in it, and I'll do the same for such bands in the future as they're almost always in small venues. It was a good trial run though, could hear everything clearly.

Quieter bands or large venues I probably won't bother with them.

I'll probably forget my earplugs knowing me, the few times I have worn them I've found I can hear the performance fine, but when it comes to talking to other people I can't hear a thing, or it's all muffled.

Been gigging for 16 yrs never worn ear plugs, had a hearing test 5 yrs ago, it was very good. You probably get more damage from stupid earphones on MP3's etc for too much volume overtime as a gig is not everyday.

The brilliant thing about them, apart from the fact that they protect your ears and garantee a good sound, is that even if you've got them on, you can hear the person you're talking to.

I've not used earplugs, I probably should though! From what people say about them though, they help to filter the sound from what I gather. So basically your ears are getting less of a hammering but they don't stop you hearing the overall sound. I'm sure ones who use them will be able to explain better though!

My current cheap ones the music does sounds terrible with them so I have not been wearing them or just wearing them for the support acts. The ACS ER20 expensive ones are sounding promising with great reviews so I will give them a try
