Well it's certainly creating an interesting debate and divided a few people. Nicky himself said that there are in his opinion 2 sides to the Manics output. The Holy Bible-Journal in one camp and Everything Must Go-SATT in another. Obviously this falls into the latter which is unashamedly straightforward pop/rock for the masses that listen to Radio 2/Local commercial radio etc. My problem with this song is that it sounds too manufactured and not natural.

It's a song that ticks the boxes and it's clearly in their comfort zone. And that's why - to me at least, it feels rather hollow.

It sounds like its a 6th single from SATT.

Whoever said "nice" hit the nail on the head.

I'd rather listen to Autumnsong than that. And Autumnsong is awful.

Tedious please stop taking up space in this thread.

I haven't seen anyone else say it, so I'm gonna say it hoping to be the first - I am very excited for the b-sides.

Excitement over Manics b-sides goes without saying. It's a natural state in which we all exist

Blah chords and repetitions? You have heard the manics before right? They're are verse/chorus/verse as they come!
no, clearly, i just am here to hate on the new music and make pie jokes.

perhaps they are, but somehow for example, all the singles from EMG seem to progress naturally and don't seem like bits of shit pasted together.

I was just moaning about the bog standard major pentatonic runs in JDBs solo that Noel uses in every Oasis solo.

Musically interesting in the way SATT should have been i.e. intricate, sounds very simple but isn't and has a strong family resemblance to early 90s manics (gleeful bile). Actually if we're going for comparisons then it's something from SATT played by the musicians who crafted Lifeblood. I can hear the Motown poppishness which is wonderful, I do love it when Simon Price gets something wrong.

Lyrically there's nothing wrong as such, I do enjoy Wire's lyrics, but there aren't really many of them on display...

Tangetically I like radio rips, they do wonderful things to the drumming (see Jackie Collins).

As much as I love to see/hear James reeling off solos, I expected something kinda simple considering this is the first single from an album of potential "big radio hits". I think it fits with the song nicely* though, and I like the song.

*And by "nicely", I don't mean "mediocre".

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Wtf?

It's sounds like the opening of a lame daytime TV show.

I was hoping for something more pop, or something more Peeled Apples DIRTY MOTHERFUCKING BASSLINEEEE-esque.
