How have we got to the year 2013 with people still taking things that come out of Nicky Wire's mouth seriously?

And then you go on about being 'real fans' (as if it matters or makes a difference to anything or as if that's an actual thing).

Guys, 'Nicky Wire bullshits' is like manixfan rule #1, keep up.

Also, if they play some songs and you're not there to hear them play those songs but some other people are there, who cares? It doesn't matter. They're just songs. Hear them play them another time. Listen to them on the CD. So what if the people who do hear them don't know all the words backwards, are we the ticket police now?

I feel like I'm leaving my teenage years behind very rapidly, it's like I've woken up and come to the conclusion 'they're just a band'. Liking bands is meant to be a hobby or an interest, if you're seriously that stressed out about what they're doing then you probably need to take a step back. They don't know you, they don't owe you a single thing.

So true!

Yep, give me a tour over a festival any day. I'm not making any assumptions about the people who do go to festivals before anyone suggests otherwise, they're just not for me.

Yep, pretty much

Anyway, I caught the highlights of this on the red button earlier, nothing particularly stand-out, but it was enjoyable enough and was nice to see them on TV...on a loop.

I have a ticket for Glastonbury so I'd love it if they did perform it there. Personally I think Wire was taking the piss, I think he was amused by the idea of playing an album that is not exactly accessible (though I personally believe it to be the greatest album ever) to a load of festival goers expecting A Design for Life and the like.

I'd love to see it done live start to finish, I've seen them 35 times but I'm pretty sure I've never heard Mausoleum, 4st 7lb, Die in the Summertime or The Intense Humming of Evil played live. It's a fan's favourite and it'd be pretty special to see it done from start to finish, though I agree it'd be nice to see a few dates so everyone who wants to see it gets a chance.

As for those hating on Glastonbury, I imagine most of them have never been, there is a reason it sells out in hours before a single band has been announced; it's just a nice place to be, it doesn't have the laddishness of other festivals, you can take your drinks anywhere, even if you didn't like a single band there's hundreds of things to see and do.

They also hinted that there'll be a 20th anniversary edition of THB (er, with no new music, but maybe some letters they wrote to each other at the time).

That will come out around the time all these reissues do (Q4) and they'll do a Christmas tour which will be themed like the Astoria shows. I have no inside information to back this up, just a long insight into their predictability. Also, JDB will have a cold.

I predict the letters will mostly be P, C, P and lots of backwards-facing 'R's.

watched the red button, Nicky was very obviously trolling with the Glasto comment judging by his delivery and subsequent smirk!

my heart did jump when JDB casually mentioned "oh, we've found a lot more Holy Bible stuff we forgot about"! slight initial disappointment when it turns out it's just various ephemera, until the following thought popped in my head:

The Holy Bible - 20th Anniversary Deluxe Vinyl Reissue???

would be perfect:

a. it's been out of print since forever
b. we already have the 15th anniversary multi disc deluxe CD edition(s)
c. so much more space for these uncovered notes, photos, artwork, whatever...

A Holy Bible book would be nice (not to be confused with The Continuing Adventures Of Jesus Christ & Friends). Photos and scans of said letters, would love to see a collection of the paper setlists that Richey decorated beautifully.

Maybe we should have a THB20 Speculation thread rather than clog up the gig thread

But we all only just bought the 10th anniversary right?!

Can't wait for Lifeblood10. Maybe they'll celebrate by actually playing some songs from it.
