Sorry but it's a tad pathetic from a band with a 10 album catalogue and god knows how many b sides to choose from. Just accept you're not a big band anymore and fuck 'the hits'. It is just laziness rather than self condiousness

What a fantastic show, I was so moved during postcards! Lincoln (for no real reason) is a bit 'too cool for school' and therefore didnt mosh all the way through the tracks, but the appreciation was there for all to see. I sang every word and thought they were breathtaking. It was as good as when I saw them at the Manchester Apollo in 96. James voice sounded unbelievable and the whole band (Sean and Wayne included) were immense. My little girl was born two weeks ago and me and the mrs wet her head in style!

its a fairly sizable tour and in the long run a massive amount of promotional scheduling so i can understand why they would reel off the 'standard' set a few nights and mix it up for the more high profile.
for the people who do get the 'standard' at least they still give 100% to the performance and not phone it in like i've seen some bands do, some more high profile than the manics.
i know its frustrating for obsessives like us to see the same songs in the same order being text in night after night but when you are in a hall full of people all loving the sound of the band rolling off the stage as they bounce around clearly enjoying themselves it puts a different perspective on the setlist woes.

ps, i cant wait i cant wait i cant wait i cant wait for my 3 gigs next week!

Just got back from the gig now, I'd say it was a good 7/10 gig and a great showing as it was their first at Lincoln. The crowd may not necessarily have been moshing all the way through, but to be honest I was with my partner and another couple and we wasn't really in a 'moshing' mood, yet we had a bit of a dance and the crowd were really appreciative throughout the whole set. I don't think it was 'too cool for school', it was a mixed audience yet that didn't mean the non moshers weren't as into it.
Was a strange setlist which I think lost a bit of steam halfway until James' acoustic tracks.
The reason the place emptied quickly was the venue has a club night which starts after the gig.
The band did stay around after the gig to do signings/photos and seemed in great spirits!

Was that really soon after the end of gig? I could see Nicky and Wayne on the bus before it left, and they didn't seem to get off.

I'll have to double check that then, I must admit I didn't see them as we went straight for a drink but a pal was on the doors tonight and he came across to us about 10.20 and mentioned he had been overseeing some signings/photos and were in good sprits, I just presumed he meant outside the venue??

He's been saying "Have a great Christmas" at the end of most gigs I think (he definitely did at Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester anyway). He hasn't got rid of some of us just yet before the festive season

What a load of shite!!!!! I felt embarrassed! I was 2 rows back from the front , and I think I was the only one who seemed to know who they where? Everyone around me was just stood there motionless all night! I know not everyone who goes to the gigs is not a die hard, but why queue up and stand right at the front? When the usual idiots barged to the front for DFL the girl in front of me (who had been motionless at the barrier all night) started kicking me because i was crushing her!!!!!!! I Cannot express how mad I am!!!!!

Please don't make the mistake of thinking that she wasn't thoroughly enjoying the gig, despite the fact that she wasn't expressing her enjoyment by jumping up and down. Not everyone wants to do that at gigs. Also, I've found that if I take my hands off the barrier, someone will always try to push me out of the way.

Aye, it's hard to jump at the barrier....i tend not to, cos i'm clinging on...and just cos you are on the barrier doesn't mean you appreciate people sticking their elbows in your face for example!

Yeah, jumping up and down isn't really practical on the barrier. I'm more into shouty pointy or simply singing along than jumping, but I can assure you I'm still having a good time.
