I thought it had a bit of an Angels feel to it but I didn't want to say because that might make it true.

It's a piano ballad, as far as it goes.

Actually yeah, you're right, though there seems to be more disagreement over individual songs than usual

No, there's something in the vocal melody. I'm not totally certain it's Angels, but it's definitely Robbie related.

I'm really not liking this album so far. I really really hope it grows on me but at the moment im putting it as my least favourite album. It just seems far to polished. Only two or three songs I enjoyed but Its only been listened to once. Auto Intoxication with its Motorhomes style chorus was a delight though.

The Descent chorus so far is my highlight. Without being to strong I think the best words I can describe are from Mr Wire himself

aw man, what does 'don't be evil' sound like? starts like Black Grape's 'kelly's heroes', but the vocal line in the verses... it's pretty much note for note something else... has this been picked up on anywhere in this thread at all?

also, SKON does remind me a lot of Nada Surf's 'inside of love';

The Descent is the only song that sounds like a Manics song and it really really is growing on me, I like its not war as well but I don't understand why they have to shift sound and add all this to attempt one last shot at mass communication. JUST BE MANIC STREET PREACHERS!!! Some brilliant brilliant music in the past but this doesn't give their name justice.

I'm glad I came on here to read all the doom-laden predictions about PFAYM, because my expectation have been lowered so much I'm actually loving this so far. Haven't even finished listening yet.

I find this album quite feelgood. It's the perfect soundtrack to an uneventful summer coming an end and things picking up for me.

I haven't listened to it straight through, I've been jumping between tracks. But, I think I like this a lot. I don't hear many hits, but I like the feel of the album.
Now, this may be quite controversial, but I'm gonna throw it out there and see what happens: I think it's the album TIMTTMY should have been. They didn't fancy making a rock record, wanted a load of strings, pianos and kitchen sinks. Great idea, but TIMT plods along while PFAYM positively bounces (and, indeed, bounces positively!) Favourites so far? I Think I've Found It and A Billion Balconies... 3 albums in a row that I have loved? It's like starting over again! |
