Had to laugh at the line in OneManMilitia "We all know who's responsible" — a nice call back to Of Walking Abortion.

Sorry I still have to skip Dear Stephen and I'm not that big a Morrissey fan!
Being Baptised onwards sets off this chain reaction of great songs chugging along.
See, had this thought last night but thought it was too horrible to post. Word it better.
Barring accidents you can sort of hear there's another album or two in them. Considering I thought at the start of thread they were winding down.
Edit: Did I mention People Give In strong in Late Day Peaks?

I noticed a quasi-self-plagiarism: the melody of the words "in brushstrokes of reu-" is exactly the same of the words "suck your honey until you cho-" from Dead Yankee Drawl. The key is the same, so the notes are actually the same. I noticed it since the first listen, it really struck me (in a good way, I have nothing against self-plagiarism".
Is it only me or anyone else can hear that similarity?

Yes, good catch!

I think there are quite a few.

I keep hearing Together Stronger in Out of Time Revival.

Another play down. I've also played RIF and TUVL and I stand by my initial impression that they're stuck in the same 'safe' mode that produced those, perhaps even mining the same territory as PFAYM.

Once again some fleeting good ideas and some forgettable toss; a third consecutive album of their most average, bland, colourless, and sometimes embarrassing music. Like RIF, there are a few moments on the second half that I like, some of which could be improved if James sang like he cared or they got rid of the samey UVL guitar/synth sheen and played with more grit.

Back when fans and friends were jumping off after TIMTTMY and KYE and Lifeblood, I found something I loved about each of those. Even when those who stuck around were turned off by SATT and PFAYM, I still really liked some tracks. This one? It saddens me to say this but I never thought I'd feel so BORED by the Manics. I really hope that it grows on me in time, or the songs make more sense live.

This is actually growing on me. Dear Stephen is still up there with Vivian and Don't Let the Night Divide Us in 'must skip, it makes me physically cringe' territory, 'My Brave Friend' still makes no impression at all, the odd lyric is a bit awkward ("caught up in all this therapy speak"), but the rest of it is definitely working better for me rather than making me roll my eyes. Don't think it's going to ever be a favourite, but I don't hate it now.

I totally respect Scarecrow’s view on the album.

I’m wondering if there are other stalwarts or regulars who feel the same?

I think it’s their best since Futurology (and maybe even better!)

I can only hope to reach this level one day.

The cringe part, I certainly get that more and more. Never had it with older songs that some hate but it started creeping in with Autumnsong and Hazelton Avenue, got worse with Together Stronger and International Blue, reached a new low with Orwellian and now I skip Decline and Fall. I would honestly feel embarrassed to play those to people who know I'm a big fan, I've had apologetic conversations like "no, wait, I promise they've made good music too!"

I won't name names but I was talking to two other fans elsewhere who both found it very dull and disappointing, it's a surprise to see so much praise here but to each their own, it would be an unremarkable world if we all liked the same things.

I hear a few echoes of older tracks in recent songs, Firefight and Misguided Missile in there somewhere. On TUVL, I heard a bit of It's Not War in The Secret He Had Missed.

There's a riff on D&F that's been recycled from Into The Waves Of Love and something I can't unhear is the melody to "A single bird sings a sweet old song" is pretty much identical to part of the theme to Last Of The Summer Wine. Sorry everyone.

Now you mention it, the classic lineup does remind me of something…
